I could not find one, so I figured I would get the ball rolling.

If there is one, then I apologize for being a tard.

Shown is my old school Colt Huntsman. I consider the old Huntsman/Woodsman series to be true "sleepers" of the rimfire semi auto world. They are rather nicely balanced, accurate enough to head shoot bunnies at fair distances, and light weight enough that you don't really notice them when carried in a belt rig.

Mine is shown along with my grandfather's Filson that he bought sometime after WWII. The Huntsman is from the same era, and they seem like a natural match. Perfect winter time companions for hunting jackrabbits hiding in the tall sage, when the snow is deep.

Sorry for the pic quality, I am using my phone. My camera bit the dirt.

My dad has one that he bought when he was in JR High. He tells the story of his mom going to buy it for him, and him working for a long time to earn the money for it. He has had his roughly 60 years and it still is a solid shooter.

Good looking 22s.

The only 22 handgun I have at present is a S&W 17-5 4". They're a hoot to shoot, I would like another 22.
I've been thinking maybe a Charger. 16647

Thanks. I used to be a big lurker on RimfireCentral Forum. A guy on there was making those grip panels at the time so that 1911 grips can be attached. Very good deal and something not everyone has.

I've spent my fair share of hours over there as well. haha. Bunch of smart dudes when it comes to the nuances of rimfire guns.

Where did you get the stocks? I've been on the hunt for some plain black walnut stocks just like those.

In my view, there are very few things in the firearms world more fun than a suppressed .22 semi auto pistol. I can't count the times I have sat in a folding chair in camp, or around a fire, and plinked at pine cones, all while not making a noisy racket. Loads of fun.

The Mountie is without question my all time favorite rimfire, and favorite rifle period. Though it is just a rimfire, they were built to last a lifetime, and were made with the same attention to detail and pride in workmanship as the centerfire versions.

In the spot pictured I spent few hours catching and releasing trout, in between popping ground squirrels. Truly an awesome day. I then headed back to the ID side and spent the night on the Pahsimeroi of Elmer Keith writings.

Here's one you don't see too often, an 8 3/8" Model 17:

http://i.imgur.com/ikTRARw.jpg (http://imgur.com/ikTRARw)

I've owned several of the 6" ones, but this is only the second in this barrel length that I've ever seen. The other one was a beater, too. It has roughly the same sight radius as a 10-22 but will completely outshoot most of them. It's about as portable as a machete, so it's not mine any more, but it was for a while.

I prefer any S&W revolver with the small hammer and trigger and shown here, and that goes double for K-frame 22's.

When I first picked mine up, it quickly became apparent that I had been missing one of the most fun rifles ever made. they are built for adults, cycle smoothly and after just a bit of use become so ingrained that I often have to check and see if I already cycled the action. They are just plain fun to shoot.

It's a Harrington and Richardson Model 999 Sportsman with a 6" barrel. This was the flagship of the H&R top breaks. My dad bought that in the mid to late 70's at a gas station in rural Virginia after his 4" model was stolen from his truck. There's a lot of family history tied to that particular revolver. :)

Not all of my rim fire guns, just the most interesting, in my eyes at least.

The long gun is a Daisy, .22lr bolt action Legacy with adjustable synthetic stock. Accompanied by the Nikon ProStaff 22lr 4x scope, this is a tack driver.

The Luger with the black canvas micarta grips is a Stoeger and the one with the brown plastic grips is an Erma. The Erma was my Dad's and is the pistol that first turned me on to semi auto handguns. The Stoeger I bought for my wife because she loved Dad's Erma and I could not find an Erma for her. I made the micarta grips because the wood scales it came with were seriously shitty and ill fitting.

The revolver is an RG23 and was my first handgun experience ever. Once I proved to my dad That I could handle it safely and shoot proficiently with it, it became my personal side arm for our hunting trips. Loaded with .22 snake shot of course.

The American Arms PPK/22 is another of my Dad's guns that has more sentimental meaning than any real value. It is reliable and fairly accurate for the total PPS that it is.

I had a 17-4, which I loaned to a neighbor who wanted to get better at shooting. It was stolen out of his truck. Allegedly.

I have a 17-2 purchased back when they were reasonable (sub-$500 range). Until I got my silencer, it was my fav rimfire, but the silencer makes the 22/45 so cool. I do love the 17-2 with Aguila Colibris for plinking at deer camp. That's still quieter than the suppressed 22/45 (barely) and less danger of ricochets.

S&W Mod 2213 (The blued version was designated 2214)

I really wish that I had bought more than one back in the day as my LE Distributor was almost giving them away. He said they had to take them to get the desirable allocated stuff back when that was a normal practice.

The thing has a very decent trigger, good sights, 8+1 capacity, weighs just over a pound and it will almost fit in your pocket. It shoots like a full-size gun back to about 15-20 yards and with standard high-speed ammo (no Stingers) it's accurate and reliable.

I would think a pistol like this would sell like crazy today, but what do I know. It didn't sell well the first time around for $200, but folks don't have any problem paying two and half times that much for a used one these days. I think there's currently just a single listing for one of each on Gunbroker.

A limited edition ( so I was told, and by research looks true) 10/22T I bought way back when I was just a young pup. I even glass bedded the thing. Shoots a lot of loads into 1/2" or less 10 shot groups at 50 yards. I haven't done much ammo testing yet but, it seems to like CCI Standard Velocity. Anticipated uses are a weekly 50-yard bench rest match and an Appleseed class this summer. It's great fun to shoot. Best, ELN.

A limited edition ( so I was told, and by research looks true) 10/22T I bought way back when I was just a young pup. I even glass bedded the thing. Shoots a lot of loads into 1/2" or less 10 shot groups at 50 yards. I hardly shoot it anymore... and I've been tempted to find it a new home, but it was one of the first guns I ever bought, and it's pretty.

Love it! Couldn’t afford one when they came out. Ended up with a pawnshop special 10/22 for $100.

I think at the time it cost me a couple weeks wages... then I had to save pennies to buy that Sightron scope. I shot some amazing groups, and killed a lot of varmints with it, before I upgraded to centerfire .22's

My best friend's grandfather has always been an inspiration to us. He was a Lt Col in Vietnam and when inevitably asked by little boys if he'd ever killed anyone he'd always reply, "I sure as hell hope so, I shot at enough of those sumbitches." If Clint Eastwood told me he'd modeled Gran Torino after Lt Col Grandpa (which is how we refer to him), I'd believe it completely. He has gorgeous rows of pine trees he himself planted on the back 40 and has been known to trim the paths using a small chainsaw on a stick that he deftly wields from the seat of his 4-wheeler and I distinctly remember him doing that very thing on his 79th birthday and had to be fetched to come in for his own dinner. He's my freakin hero.

One thing about LtC Grandpa, though, he friggin hates raccoons. So he traps them and summarily executes them. When I lived close by, this duty fell to me. I hate shooting raccoons, hate, hate, hate it. But I do it a lot safer and quicker than LtCG is capable of, so for the sake of the doomed raccoon and anyone else withing a mile radius, I did my duty each time. Though I'm always armed, LtCG would usually want me to use whatever pistol he had in his pocket that day to get a function test accomplished, too. One morning, it was his oft carried Walther TPH, which cycled sluggishly with both rounds I fired. LtC G, "Good, thought maybe it was just me. Can you do something about it?" So, I gave it a thorough cleaning, lube and a new recoil spring, function fired a problem free mag and returned it with a fresh box of ammo.

About 6mos ago, LtC Grandpa decided he couldn't handle the farm by himself anymore and he was spending most of his time with his wife in the assisted living community she needs to be in, so he sold the place and became a resident with her. I'd not had a chance to visit my friend's new home and made up for that with a road trip to share bourbon and cigars on his back porch. At one point, my friend jumps up excitedly and says he'll be right back. As you're probably expecting, he returned with this TPH and says LtCG told him to make sure I got it. Confused, I say, "But he gave that to you when he first sold his house." He smiles and says, "He did, turns out he had two of them and he was adamant that you get the other one."

I don't know if it's the same one I cleaned up for him, but I'll always treasure it. It joins my growing stable of much loved family guns that have been handed down to me; my maternal great grandfather's cheap little .32 rimfire revolver that lived in his vest pocket, my great uncle John's double barrel blackpowder 12g, my paternal grandfather's Browning Buck Mark and my father's much used and abused Ruger Single Six with the magnum cylinder installed. And for a change, the gifter is alive to hear just how much I appreciate owning it.

I put this Volquartsen Scorpion together over the past two years, finally finishing it this week. The only Ruger part is the magazine. Grips, for now, are Hogue. The rest of the pistol is composed of Volquartsen parts that I accumulated as deals became available. The Volquartsen frame is anodized in a red that is more pink than red. That led to a substantial discount that frugal me likes.

I was able to shoot the "break in" rounds using S&B Subsonic (40-grain at 1017 fps). No functioning issues and twenty-five yard ten-shot groups went into less than an inch. The comp that came with the upper (it had a comp but no sights) means what little muzzle rise there was is gone. I always thought a comp on a .22 was just a way to extract money from my bank account, but the muzzle rise is exceedingly well damped. I need to shoot on the timer with and without the comp to quantify the impact.

The comp is easily removable, which is good because it leads something fierce. I have been soaking the comp in a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and 3% hydrogen peroxide to loosen the welded powder and lead, but I just ordered the Volquartsen "lead pulverizer" as the vinegar/hydrogen peroxide solution is a bit messy. The solution will also etch barrel steels as it is an oxidizer. With the comp being made of anodized aluminum, it should not be an issue; but less exposure to chemicals has to be a good thing. For that reason, I may just remove the comp and replace it with a thread protector for shooting where a bit of muzzle rise is not an issue.

The other negatives of the comp are noise and spraying lead. The latter is one of the reasons this pistol does not have an optic. The other is I wanted a lightweight pistol in the vein of the Colt Challenger.

Watch this section of the VQ web site: https://volquartsen.com/clearance

There are often deals on overstock, discontinued, obsolete, blemished, or demo items. With the Mark III series replaced by the Mark IV, there have been quite a few deals on parts meant for the older pistols. I compare those prices to those of Rimfire Sports, which is my Volquartsen dealer of choice. The bolt in my build was discounted because it has the older logo on the "pinball" grab handle. I was able to purchase a Deluxe rifle with a McMilian stock for a bit under seventy-three percent of retail during a Black Friday promotion.

Volquartsen also sells closeouts on eBay.

I can't remember where I bought the barrel from. I still have the original. I would recommend sending your barrel to either Tornado Technologies (https://www.tornado-technologies.com/product/BERE0001/Beretta-2121A-threading-service/) or Silencer Shop (https://www.thesilencerstore.com/product-p/ts-bb-21a.htm) to have it threaded. I had to do some filing and fitment to the barrel I bought to make it fit to my 21A. That was a little bit of a PITA.

Careful with anything acidic on anodizing. It's impervious to most solvents, but has very little resistance to acids. I couldn't tell you how many thousands of dollars of anodized wheels and brake parts I've seen ruined by detailers trying to do a good job and spraying them with acidic wheel cleaners to get the brake dust off.

Its a single shot Crickett rifle (.22 S/L/LR) with a Ruta Locura stock. Weight is approx 1lb 14oz. Stock is a hollow tube with a screw on butt. They also have a carbon barrel which would put the total weight at around 15oz (a bit spendy for me though).

Makes a pretty good pack rifle for small game getting.

My lifelong best friend, since we were 3 and 4 years old respectively, gave this to me for Christmas a few years back. His family owns the gun shop I used to work for. He got sequential SN guns for he and I. His grandfather was our scoutmaster. We lived a lot of life and lessons in those years and even ended up having a joint Eagle Scout Ceremony; just worked out that way due to the closeness of our families.

I'm sad that the organization that made me a lot of who I am no longer exists. I do my best to get my kids out and teach them the skills as well as modeling the principles and behaviour. I am sad that they will never get to experience what I did through scouting, though.

johnson,

That isn't a very common pistol, so I would imagine a threaded barrel would be tough to find!

There's a man over on The High Road, name of Mach IV Shooter who can maybe help you. He can thread the inside of the barrel for a very short ways, make an adaptor that screws in and pokes out and then will let you screw your silencer to it. The process is called counter-boring. I recommend him and his work highly. I've no connection to him.

Thanks, I'll look him up if I decide to go that route. I meant that I wanted to find an extra barrel to get it threaded and keep the original barrel because...I actually don't have a good reason I can think of other than fearing irreversible damage or loss of accuracy.

I did sent out my CZ Kadet to a member named hotrod9mm years ago to do what you're talking about. He was on THR and other boards and the name of his company escapes me but he designed/made aftermarket CZ rifle parts. I'm pretty happy with the work but Tornado Technologies threading service looks cleaner.

In my view, there are very few things in the firearms world more fun than a suppressed .22 semi auto pistol.

Lost River is right. Here's my CZ 75B SA with competition hammer, polished internals, removed firing pin block, and adjustable trigger before they came out with the 75 SAO Shadow. The Kadet conversion upper is on it 95% of the time and I keep a heavier mainspring in it to help reliably light off bulk .22lr ammo. And since it's single action only there's very little downside in how the trigger pull feels. I initially had FTE issues but that was fixed by changing the angle of the ejector with a file (instructions on czfirearms.us). I can't recall any other malfunctions since then other than primers not going off with bulk ammo. I've sold a DW Valor and HK P7 and could never think of getting rid of this CZ combo. I've been trying to decide if I should get a Ruger or Buckmark to see if they make better suppressor hosts than what I have currently or just save that ~$800 for something else.

The Kadet conversions for the CZ 75 are impressive as the construction is all steel with a fixed barrel and a small slide allow for impressive accuracy for a conversion kit. Not Bullseye accurate but accurate enough for small game hunting. The magazines also feed quite well.

How accurate is your Kadet? I haven't any luck finding someone willing to mill the slide for a red dot because of the location of the ejection cutout. A dovetail adapter for the Shadow should fit (EGW #49397) but it's $50 and most places charge around $125 for milling services and I'd happily pay for the latter to get the optic lower.

My Kadet will keep five rounds in less than two inches at twenty-five yards with Norma TAC-22 with the factory iron sights. I had to experiment with quite a few different loads to find the ones that grouped the best. SK Pistol grouped better, but the lube is very oily and lead to feed issues. CCI SV groups were about three inches. The factory used a S&B load on the test target that was less than two inches but I have not found any of the that load.

I can probably do that at 15 yards but it opens up at 25. I've only tried CCI SV, Wolf SK, and American Eagle suppressor ammo. Academy has the Norma TAC-22 on the shelves for $10/box that I'll try out.

What is that optic mount? I'm not entirely thrilled about the receiver rail on mine.

Bought this right after Christmas from a friend. Planning to shoot this in NRL22.

CZ455 w/ .22LR varmint barrel and Manners stock. Topped with a US Optic 5-25x. Put a 30 MOA rail on there this afternoon to to get a little more “up” when shooting past 250 yds. I suck at PRS, hoping this will give me more time on a long gun and carry over to my 6.5CM.

A Marlin-Glenfield model 25 was the first .22 rifle that I ever owned. I was a teenager and got it as a gift in the late 1970s. I sold it decades ago. Since I bought a copy of the first gun that I ever owned--a Marlin 336C--I decided to purchase a copy of the second gun that I ever owned: the Marlin Glenfield model 25. So I found one on gunbroker and bought it. The gun is in superb shape.

I also have a Rossi .22 shooting gallery style slide action .22. I had wanted a slide action .22 for a while. So when one showed up at my local gunshop--Jackson Armory in Dallas--I grabbed it. In doing some research when I was interested in a slide action, I read that the old Rossis were better. This is an older model Rossi.

This was my first time firing either gun. I picked up the Glenfield about a week ago. The Glenfield is in virtually new condition even though it's at least 30 years old. he Marlin's bolt seems very stiff--especially where it fits in with the stock notch. I imagine that will wear in over time. I don't remember the one that I had as a teenager being this stiff. As I put more rounds for the Rossi I started to experience about one failure to extract from every magazine. I'm not sure if it's specific ammo because I didn't really have the time to get in depth. I am going to keep the Rossi with open sights, even though they are hard to see with my older eyes. I am getting a scope for the Marlin. I do notice that the Marlin is really long. It has a long length of pull and a 22 inch barrel. The picture shows both guns with a yardstick in between them as an indication. The Rossi has a 16 inch barrel. Look how amazingly long the Marlin is next to the Rossi.

Stretching my Tikka out to 325 last summer. I had to dial in 10 mils of elevation, the drop is 19 feet with subsonic ammo if memory serves me correctly.

I stopped by my buddy's place last week and had a couple hours on the range with his kids, just plinking and having fun.

His kids had the usual new shooter lean back, moving gun/head at the same time trying to find a dot, etc. I grabbed the TX22 with the same can on it, and we all just had a blast, and they were all running the dot and ringing steel faster than they ever had before. I'm pretty sure that was the first day Marcus shot a pistol past 20 or so yards (he started seated for a 50 yard C zone steel). It was an awesome day, apparently they're asking when I'm stopping by on a semi-regular basis now.

This Marlin 60 was my first gun. My dad bought it in the late 80's and left it with me when he left mom and I. Dad wasn't a gun guy, but often our Saturday visits consisted of breaking some glass Coke bottles at one of his construction sites (dad has been a heavy equipment operator all my life) with the Marlin. I still remember the sleeve of Mini-Mags sitting in the cargo compartment of his truck door. Back then the rifle had one of those little 4x15 Tasco airgun-type scopes on it. I really struggled to see through it as a kid and for a time dad took it off.

When I hit college and started working part-time at a gun shop I began to learn more and replaced the little Tasco with a Simmons 22 MAG 3-9x32. Wow, that was a huge upgrade. Over the years I grew to hate this little Marlin. It wasn't as cool as my buddies' 10/22's and CZ's. I actually sold it once, but nostalgia got the better of me and I quickly bought it back. In an effort to enjoy using it I put it through the wringer by installing Tech Sights, then to a Vintage Leupold 4X, then back to another junk airgun scope and just pushed to the back of the safe.

Earlier this year I began to think of reviving it to see what I could make it do. I got a great deal on this Leupold Freedom Rimfire 3-9x33 and it included Warne rimfire rings. I like those rings quite a bit. In the process of sighting in the gun, I found it to be as accurate as ever (pretty good actually), but the trigger just about as atrocious as ever too!

Funny/Dangerous story about the super-heavy trigger on this gun: On one of my 5 or 6 y/o outings with dad, I thought I'd shot the gun empty. Dad said, "I don't think so." Me being 5 or 6 and not at the time grasping the concept of it being a LSHO model and/or using the charing handing to check the chamber, I just pointed it at the ground right beside my food and said, "See!" while mashing the trigger as hard as I could...well you can guess it went off and to this day I remember the fear of "Holy Crap I almost put a hole in my foot!"

Anyway, I began to research Marlin 60 trigger jobs. I've got a 10/22 trigger currently at Brimstone for a Tier 2 and wasn't above something similar for my Marlin, but it doesn't seem to exist. So, I threw down my $30 to M-CARBO for their spring kit. I just installed it today and oh man what a difference! I don't have a trigger scale to measure, but being mainly an AR guy I have $250 Geissele triggers and understand the difference between good and bad triggers. When I finished installing the kit and dry-fired the gun I figured I must've forgotten to hook a spring or something. The trigger broke so lightly and cleanly. Well, I put 2 rounds in the magazine and gave it a shot. HOLY SMOKES! It just really is that good of a trigger (and even moreso considering from whence it came)!

Gratuitous pic of the rifle:

It took almost a year to find one at a price I was willing to pay but the enablers finally won out and I ordered a stripped Charger TD receiver this morning. I'll pull the receiver guts from another project that's gathering dust. Not sure if I'll grab someone's take off carbine barrel or just go straight to an aftermarket. Not planning to dump a ton of money into this project (yeah, right  ) so I'll probably just go with a take off barrel. More interested in usefulness rather than cool points for this one.

Took it out yesterday for the first time in I don't know how long. The 3 in the upper left were sighters, the group left of the 10 was the first group (a mix of DA and SA) and the group left of the 9 was the second group (all SA). Even though it's a DA revolver your best bet for accuracy is to fire it SA because you can't see or use the rear sight when the hammer is down.

Yes! It's way overbuilt too with a Larue trigger and Surefire M300. I've considered replacing the Romeo with a T1, but can't quite justify it. I prefer the Aimpoint rheostat and durability, but the reality is this mostly gets used for kids, with a little backyard pest control mixed in, so no real need.

It's a great score! Just don't be surprised with sticky extraction. Never seen it in a K frame .22 but seen it a lot in J frame .22's. Not sure if they had tighter chambers or what. Just got a cylinder for a 35-1 back from honing at TK custom. I have high hopes it will help but may not be able to get to the range for another weekend or two.

The lever gun thread prompted me to get my ignored for way too long BL-22 out of the safe. I dug up a set of rings for the 3/8” rib on the receiver and installed a Weaver K3 60B that probably came on some long forgotten and long gone rifle. I hope to make it to the range to sight it in Sunday but if I don’t, I’ll do it the following weekend.
