Quick SIG 226 holster question.

I understand that the railed 226's have a nonstandard rail and that the Mk25, with it's true pic rail won't fir holsters for the 226R. Will the 226R fit in a MK25 holster?

While I'm on this topic, will the P220 fit a 226 holster?

Odds are decent that I'm going to be owning a couple SIG's before too long, and I'm trying to figure out if there's one holster I can order that'll take them all. I will go with a quality kydex company for an OWB first.

The P220 fits every P226 holster I own and vice versa. Can't speak to the MK25.

All of my P226 holsters are for the MK25 and my P226 Legion fits these holsters, fine. The P220R will fit any holster designed for the P226; however, the P220 Carry will not fit P226 holsters. Rather, the P220R Carry seem to fit those holsters designed for the P229R. Hope this helps.

This.

It has been my experience, that kydex holsters made for the Mk25 will also fit the P226R/P226, P220R(fullsize) and P228R (P228 slide on a P229R frame).
Leather has been tricky in regards to retention, especially when trying to utilize the compact in the full sized holster.

Just to split hairs (on a potentially important point), a 220R will NOT fit a 220/226 holster that is NOT designed for a railed gun, IME. 220 and 226 are compatible. 220R and 226R are compatible. 220 and 226 non-railed pistols will fit in either (but may not click into molded holsters). But the railed models WON'T fit in (at least some) non-railed holsters. To include a variety of Safariland retention/duty holsters, Kydex IWB/AIWB holsters and a couple of personally owned leather holsters too.

I don't own a MK 25.

I thought it would go the other way around? The 226R has a curved rail while the Picatinny rail on the MK25 is flat. One would think the 226R rail would take more space?

My understanding is that the true picatinny rail requires more clearance and that the experience jwjerry and gtmtnbiker98 shared above is correct.

Here's an image that might help. It's not my doing. I pilfered it from the abyss of info that is the internet at some point...

Again, thanks to all of you. My thing is I'd like to have a range holster to accommodate everything in case I get a MK25 down the road.

I recall a P226R frame fitting into my JMCK AIWB for a MK25, but that was a few years ago.

It would be hard to argue against a Safariland 6378 for this. It will fit both.
I know my G-Code & Bladetech offering didn't fit the Mk25.
