A major incident is unfolding right now in the Belgian city of Liège.

The incident reportedly involved the throwing of hand grenades and gun fire from an AK.
The attack occurred on the Place Saint Lambert, a very busy square in the city center. Even worse is that there is a very popular Christmas market on the square right now.

For coverage in English see:The Guardian (http://www.guardian.co.uk/global/blog/2011/dec/13/belgium-attack-grenades-thrown-at-bus-stop-in-liege-live-updates)

This is some scary stuff that city is only 20 miles from my home.
But no in this open air prison called Europe, responsible citizens are not allowed to carry. We are all at the mercy of what ever is thrown at us.
On a side note the factory of FN is in a suburb of Liège.

Update: 4 dead, 123 injured. Lone attacker (dead), no terror related links, known criminal.

RIP to the fallen. I'm waiting for the news outlets to make excuses for the killer.

Good to see gun control working out as well for the Belgians as it is for us here in occupied Kalifornia.

I'm waiting for the news outlets to make excuses for the killer.

Unless he is an anti-Muslim Belgian Nationalist (if such a thing even exists) - if that is the case then he is the worse thing since Bush.

The attacker was a muslim-Belgian. He was convicted of having an enormous arsenal of (illegal) weapons, and narcotics crimes in 2008...he was out on parole.

The spin ohhhhh the dear spin. News outlets (in Belgium and the Netherlands) are questioning the "large" percentage of Belgian citizens legally owning guns. What does that have to do with anything?

Korenwolf, I think Mitchell was being facetious.

MechEng you're right, I read over the underlining. I'm considering visiting an ophthalmologist, this is happening quite often lately.

@ Mitchell your quite right.

Latest news is that another body was found in the home of the shooter. A possible theory of why the attacks were triggered is that the shooter was supposed to report to a police station to be questioned about a crime of a sexual nature, which could send him back to prison. This questioning was scheduled for the morning of the attacks.
