Has anyone used or seen one of these? I need a holster for my new HK P30!:D

Seen it. Bought one (for SIG P229) that sucked. Had one sent to me (for M&P or P30, don't even remember). Still sucked.

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being worst and 10 being best, it sucks.

That was going to be my next question, Tom. ;)

I'm assuming that by "readily available" we mean something other than a Garrity or CCC. If that's the case, I haven't found one so far that I would endorse. I've got two on the way (leather from 5 Shot, kydex from Cane & Derby) that I hope to T&E over the next couple of months.

Todd, what are your views on the Raven ACR?

Never owned one. Seen many broken ones. Raven has reportedly updated/improved the design and also has another AIWB holster on the way.

I tried the 2 o'clock for a J-frame and a G19. I didn't care for either. Neither was kept very long.

Not the best. If you want a zero cant holster in a hurry, look at the High Noon Public Secret. They go for $90.00 and you'll have it in a week.

I've been using this holster (http://www.donhume.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65_5&products_id=34) from Don Hume for the last four months. It doesn't have a lot of the features of a dedicated AIWB that help to tuck the butt of the gun well, but I haven't had any problems with people spotting my gun.

tried a comp-tac 2 o'clock for my P30 for a very brief period, then sold it after my CCC shaggy arrived... Here are a few comparison shots if you're interested:

Is there a specific body type for AIWB. I am 5'7" and wear a 36-30 pants. I tried put my PPS in a simulated AIWB and dont see a P30 fitting and being comfortable, thoughts and opinins?

You also have a body type that is less dependent on that capability than most.

AIWB won't work for everyone but with a good holster it works for a lot of people you'd think were ill-shaped. I have no idea what a 'simulated AIWB' is but I'm guessing it doesn't have the features that make a good AIWB holster work so well.

What ARE the features that make a good AIWB holster?

What ARE the features that make a good AIWB holster?

My list:

Straight drop
High enough to allow a good grip
A belt loop that helps pull the butt of the gun in to your body
Leather backing for Kydex holsters - for comfort and heat protection

Dale Fricke Archangel AIWB works great for me, ships within a week or so.
HighNoon makes a decent leather AIWB.

I.e. I unloaded it and put it down the front of pants and tried to climb into my suburban and sit in the drivers position. Not the real thing, as having a true AIWB was just trying to get a feel for the carry method. Normally, I roll with a OWB and a sweater or jacket at my 3. o'clock.

I, like others, bought a 2 o'clock while I waited for my Shaggy. I bought it second hand and it came with the j-hook. My initial impression was that I hated it but it was going to have to do until my Shaggy arrived plus I didn't have any other IWBs for my 229R. I modified (chopped) the sweat guard and tweaked the j-hook so it would pull the butt of my pistol into my torso. I made it four months with it. If I hadn't modified it I couldn't stand using it. I learned that for me j-hooks suck for AIWB, a loop it much better and keeps the muzzle oriented downward. I've been using the Shaggy for about two months now and it's the cats meow. I regret not ordering two.

I have been using a Fist #17 for 7 months now.

http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/holster/17.htm

It is a leather holster, adjustable cant and ride height. Could do a better job of tucking the grip in, but concealment has been just fine so far. $60, and I got mine in about 6 weeks.

i'm interested to hear your review of the cane & derby holster. for the cost and wait times their AIWB and Pardus SSL have peaked my interest.

i had a friend who had the comptac 2oclock and sent it back right away.

3 weeks on a Blade Tech IWB. With the judicious application of moleskin on the back of the holster you could likely change the profile enough to drive the butt of the gun back into the body. This was my "training" AIWB befor I got my Looper and Shaggy.

I mentioned in another thread I bought my Father a 2 o'clock from Comp-Tac (To get him something by Christmas).

I don't think he likes it, I didn't... but I also thought maybe I could adjust it/figure it out.

I also thought carrying small of the back was uncomfortable, at first.

It's an awkward thing carrying a gun, I don't think there's any way of getting around it for me.

Some ways are worse than others.

I'm going to try a different AIWB holster, maybe buy him a different one.

CCC Shaggy was what he had on order, but... it was delayed for 8 weeks, I figured they looked similar enough.

Apparently I was wrong.

ETA: I still carry just about daily (can't carry at my job, or at the gym), but I carry everywhere else.

Was your experience with the Public Secret with the belt loops or the hook?

Ok. I misunderstood what you said.

Was your experience with the Public Secret with the belt loops or the hook?Loops. I won't trust anything that uses hooks. I carry my P30 in it and transitioning to an HK45c.

The only "clip on" holster I trust is High Noon's.
Their "reverse J" steel clip is solid.
There is no way it will break or come off of a 1.5" belt.
Trust me, I've tried.
In fact I think High Noon's clip is stronger and more secure than their belt loops because they do not use "pull dot" snaps on their loops.
The "Public Secret" is a good leather AIWB, but I actually prefer the "Hideaway" in horsehide because of it's smaller profile.

I just got an email back from Dale, he does not yet make holsters for the P30. The Archangel appeared to be (at a glance, anyway) the best readily available AIWB holster on the market. Oh well, I guess the wait continues...
