I picked up a G20 back in the fall and some bargain Armscor 180gr factory ammo. I have a crapload (6lbs) of Blue Dot from previous 357 and 44 mag reloading. Not gonna be buying new powder for this cartridge.

I'm loading 180gr Montana Gold FMJ for practice and 200 gr MG FMJ for hunting hog and maybe deer, as a backup pistol.

The 180gr. Armscor chronos at 1131fps 27 SD, my Blue Dot tests are below.

Oehler 35P chrony
200gr FMJ 9.0gr Bluedot, 989 fps, 18 SD.
180gr FMJ 10.0gr Bluedot, 1077fps, 27 SD.
180gr FMJ 9.5gr Bluedot, 1063fps, 43 SD.

Brass is new Starline, Primers WLP.

My goals are a moderate 180gr practice load at around 1100fps and a stout but not Godzilla 200gr load around 1100fps.

Anybody have a favorite 10mm Blue Dot load?

My absolute favorite for 10mm is Longshot, but if I had that much Blue Dot laying around, I wouldn't buy any Longshot until the Blue Dot was gone.

All these are Starline Brass, CCI primers, with an OAL of 1.260" shot out of a stock G20 over a Chrony.

Hornady 180 HAP 10.7 Bluedot 1173 FPS 78 ES 30.04 SD
Hornady 200 XTP 10.1 Bluedot 1105 FPS 21 ES 8.38 SD
Hornady 200 XTP 10.3 Bluedot 1128 FPS 7 ES 3.10 SD

You probably know this from your .357/.44 loads, but Bluedot likes quite a bit of crimp. I use a full turn on a Lee FCD.

How do you like those Montana gold FMJ's?

Attached is some older Speer Load data you might not have, that features Blue Dot.

Thanks for the loads and Speer data. My Speer #12 book from 1994 has,

180gr
Blue Dot
11.0gr 1295
10.0gr 1105

200gr
Blue Dot
10.0gr 1159
9.0gr 1043

My Speer #10 book from 1979 has no 10mm at all :(
Plenty of 45 Colt loads though and the last one in the pistol section is for the mighty 45 Winchester Magnum. Back when the Wildey was king of big bore autos.

RE. Montana Gold bullets, they are pretty much all I buy. I shoot the 95gr 380, 124gr 9mm, 125gr 38, and now these 10 mm. I have bought 223 55gr fmjbt from them in the past but they never seem to produce any these days. In case volume, the price for 9mm 124 fmj is a bit over 9 cents a bullet. I've never had a problem with payment or shipping.

Here are some Blue Dot loads that worked for me in my G20SF:

Rainier 180 gr. Plated HP
10.9 gr. Blue Dot
1204 FPS

Hornady 180 gr. HP/XTP
10.9 gr. Blue Dot
1173 FPS

Hornady 180 gr. FMJ-FP
11.0 gr. Blue Dot
1224 FPS

Hornady 200 gr. HP/XTP
9.5 gr. Blue Dot
1104 FPS

Hornady 200 gr. FMJ-FP
9.5 gr. Blue Dot
1104 FPS (This is not a typo, MV was exactly the same as the same powder charge with the 200 gr. HP/XTP bullet)

All loads were loaded to a COL of 1.260" in once-fired Starline cases
All loads were bench tested at 25 yards with 5-shot hand held groups
The Hornady 180 gr. HP/XTP loads and the Hornady 200 gr. FMJ-FP loads produced the best accuracy, averaging around 2 1/2"
All loads using the Rainier bullets would not shoot accurately with any powder used, including Blue Dot, Longshot, and W231
None of the other loads provided good accuracy, averaging 3" to 4"
