...want, but not 50K want.

ETA: Didn't they shoot one of these (gun being sold by CDNN) or something very similar for an elimination challenge on Top Shot?

Yes they did. I miss that show, though in the last season it got to be more about the drama between the contestants that on the range.

I saw one fired years ago. It was in .30 Government (.30-40 Krag) and had the Bruce Feed system.
The owner said that was the best of the feeders that had been developed.
Evidently the gun had been to Cuba with the Rough Riders. In his book Roosevelt said the liked the
Gatlings better than the Colt "Potato Digger" MGs that were also used there.

Very interesting to see. Ornate, with lots of brass. Two guys couldn't quite keep it going. Another loader was really
needed.

As somebody who loads .45-70 blackpowder, I can tell you that feeding that beast on a regular basis would also set you back in time, labor, and money....but how cool.

If I remember correctly, the Colt machine guns were private-purchase guns. They were chambered for 7mm Mauser; the gunners were scavenging ammo from the Spaniards.

Correct. Roosevelt's unit did not have Gatlings.

The History of the Gatling Gun Detachment Fifth Army Corps, at Santiago, by John H Parker is a very interesting book. It's long out of copyright and is available at Project Gutenberg (https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/6888).

Roosevelt's book "The Rough Riders" discusses both types of guns.
He saw both used in support and had opinions on each.
