Holy shit, is there a mag in that gun when he's jabbing the dude in the throat?!?

It seems that standing next to the target is just routine now.My prediction is that really hardcore trainers will have people holding targets during "trust your buddy" drills by this time next year.

And what's this little waltz around the 3:15 mark? What exactly is that accomplishing? "I've got this guy grappling at arm's length, so I'm going to pull my heater out with one hand and hold it out where he can grab it easily and try shooting at something else while he's still squirming around and resisting in my weak hand."

The piece de resistance, however, was the throw at the end: "Okay, come at me, bro! No, first put your foot right there..."

I just can't watch this stuff any more. It makes my blood pressure go way up (which is not the response I want to condition in myself when I see dipshits handle guns), but mostly I'm just sickened by the notion these guys project: that the danger of your training is somehow proportional to the quality.

Anyone see the video with the Crazy 88's gang leader in the white button down shirt and white tie?

Seriously, i cannot believe anyone would be so huckleberry stupid that they would actually pay for this shit. I wont even refer to it as training...

If throat-punching other students with a loaded firearm is the presentation in a Level I course...what do they teach in a Level II course?

According to their website that guy spent 9 years in Force Recon. He must have been sick the day they showed them how to use guns.

This has to be a joke. The firearms training industry might have some interesting folks, but this is over the top, right? Right?

Right?

The worst part is that their website looks professional, their trainers seem to have credentials, and they sure talk a good game. Someone who doesn't know what they're looking at could be reasonably impressed.

EDIT: If I'm not mistaken, some of their videos seem to show them training Philippines government agents. I suspect they could do worse there, unfortunately.

Do you guys use live rounds when doing the drills at the beginning of the vid?
juki009 6 months ago

@juki009 Yes, everything we do is with live ammunition. Only performed after the student has undergown several classes with G1 instructors and has been taught the actions before being attempted with Live ammunition.

As funny as the situation as "the guy" that came out to make remarks about liking parts of nutnfancy.

I got 24 seconds into that video before I had to pause it to reply on the stupidity. I just can't believe people do crap like that.

Holy shit. Just what the hell makes people think this is "effective" training? Calling the hand-to-hand sequences "bullshit" would be the masterpiece of an understatement. Just knocking a guy's arm away after he tried to take your weapon, presumably to kill you? To me, that's them demanding I dislocate their elbow and shoulder at the very least. The whole "jab him in the throat and smack him in the head in a fast 1-2 combo" wouldn't work if you really lit someone up. And I'm more than certain I could break loose of that "instructor's" hold and wreck his shit without needing a weapon. That's not taking into account the "students" ignoring the opening to destroy the attacker's hands during the "rifle fighting" bit. And the safety issues...

This is just... I feel like falling into a fit of Joker-esque psychotic laughter whenever I see shit like this...

As a rule, I try not to comment about other instructors. However, there are two things that immediately came to my mind that should be obvious to anyone:

Using live weapons pointed at or near resisting human training opponents is utterly unacceptable.

Anyone who thinks you'll need a followup smack from the flashlight after throat punching someone at full force with your muzzle has clearly never seen the effects of a full power muzzle strike.

This is not a comment about these specific techniques, but rather about the concept of redundancy when you're fighting. Just because one strike would do debilitating damage if it landed perfectly is not a good reason to omit immediate follow up attacks. In the chaos and rapid movement often present in hand to hand conflict, it is wise to hit repeatedly. In much the same way, it is a good idea to fire several shots at an attacker, even though the first shot could do the trick if it conveniently passed through the heart and severed the spine.

Please note that I am in no way, shape, or form defending the "tactical Darwinism" shown in the video.

Who is the bigger looser? The guy who asks you to stand down range to show "trust" or the guy who does it?

This is the worst video I have ever seen. Video game generation run a muck.

This discussion prompted me to search YouTube for "muzzle strike", I think the REAL tragedy is that this video only has 369 views as of posting:

That was great. I think I learned better tactics from that video than from the first video. I only made through about 2 minutes of the first video. Maybe I'm wrong for feeling this way, but the first time I see one of these "tactical" training videos where one of these assclown trainers actually catches a bullet I am going to laugh my ass off. Sadly, it will be a paying student who doesn't know any better that will catch one long before someone who truly deserves Darwin's wrath.

I, personally, blame outfits like Tac Response for crap like this. When a "legitimate" instructor begins doing it, everyone else thinks it's cool and wants to one-up them. I did catch the "bust em" magpul comment as a go signal too.

Sadly, this outfit will be around because nothing has gone wrong .... until it does. Only then will some people think "Hmm, maybe that wasn't a good idea".
