Hi.

I am sure that someone that competes will be along with advise, but I just wanted to say welcome!

Her trigger finger discipline seemed good during initial manipulation a and load up for the Jericho video. That is a great start in and of itself!

It looks like you have done a decent job starting her out, or she has some natural talent.

I highly recommend Ben Stoeger's books. Particularly his dry fire manual. If she is interested in getting good, and willing to put 15-30minutes, 3 days a week or so into dry practice, she will get to a pretty high level very quickly. If you can get her to stick w a dry practice regimen for even a month, the results will be evident in her shooting to both of you.

Not sure of your locale, but I believe most of Stoegers books are available as Kindle ebooks if shipping is an issue or very pricey.

If she is interested in competing, awesome! A month of work at dry practice: drawing and acquiring sight picture, smooth trigger presses, and reloads with a constant emphasis on safety rule observation will put her in a great spot to enjoy a match. Just being very comfortable manipulating the firearm is a big psychological easement when you have to think about other things while shooting.

If it's really something she is interested in, let her peruse some of the threads here in the marksmanship or competition forums. There is plenty of gold just laying around to be picked up. Hardly any mining needed. :)

Welcome!

Warm welcome from Tampa. Great to see lessons being passed on.

What is it that your daughter wants to achieve? Competence for home defense? Target shooting? Concealed carry?

It's great to see a young lady acquiring shooting skills.

There is a great amount of valuable information contained in the following videos.

She did great shooting the Mauser 458 Magnum.

Did she shoot any of the Cape Buffalo in South Africa?

Edited to add: I just watched the second video you posted, with her shooting the revolver. Its common today to only shoot revolvers using the trigger cocking action, though for longer distances, its usually easier to shoot well when manually cocking the hammer. If she uses her left thumb to cock the hammer its quicker, and causes less disturbance of the shooting grip compared to using the right thumb to cock the hammer.

I predict she will continue to improve in her pistol shooting. She has a good start and shows good basic fundamentals of pistol shooting so far.

Thanks, she really loves that 458.
She was a trainee PH in South Africa and was going to shoot back up shots if the hunters missed their mark. On these hunts that did not happen so no she did not get to shoot any of the buffalos
