EDC Leather Key Fob Crowdfund Campaign

Hey everyone! Most of you know that I make a lot of other leather items besides holsters. I try to make most of my leather with EDC in mind. I came up with this cool folding key fob that is a nice alternative to the techy ones that become as big as swiss army knives. This one will typically fit in your jean's coin pocket with 2-6 keys. A couple of PF members already have ones reserved that have bough wallets.

Can you provide some more detail? Why does this need crowd funding? You are already a leather worker.:-)

What are the guts? Is it more than a piece of leather with two screws?

I love the way it looks, but my keys are few, and they are much bigger, which is why I have stayed away from the techy ones.

Challenge is that all my vehicle keys are huge - do you have a version to use with the monster vehicle key monstrosities?

The main reason for the crowd funding is to buy multi-cavity clicker dies and hopefully a new press(which will be helpful for all production. The brass hardware is made in special sizes and comes with serrations, allowing you to get a snug fit, without over tightening or loosening. Inside it uses a spring wave washer to keep tension on the keys as well as pressing against the leather to keep the screws tensioned. There are spacers to allow for uneven amounts of keys or large long keys on either side. I am also working on a metal clip that will take the place of one key that you can attach your car remote to as well, this will come standard. I have but my car key on one side and house keys on the other side.

While I can easily make these in small quantities in my regular ay to day leather work, there is no way to produce them efficiently or buy the sizes of hardware needed, except for quantity. This is my first jump to expand into more production work with the leather goods, be it fobs, wallets, holsters or belts.

ThanksThe Car remote/fob attaches to a hanger that comes with the leather fob. The current prototype hanger is leather, I am working on some titanium ones to come with the production model. The car key itself can fit inside the leather fob. I will snap some pictured later today and post them.

I'm interested too, since beside my 4 "can't do without" keys, my suspended pocket junque (on quick-detach fasteners) includes a big round electronic car key, OC spray, fingernail clipper, and a AAA flashlight.

Some quick pictures I took this morning. Excuse the quality. I used what hardware I had on hand to get the point across. There are a couple of post sizes that will come with the production model, allowing for more keys to be stacked.

Popped the plastic off my spare car key and punched a hole in it. All keys in the leather fob now.

So, if you have looked at the campaign, you will see this is to be a streamlined alternative to some of the tech type fobs that can hold a ton of toys. While this could as well, it is not the original intention. It won't work for everyone. With the largest post, it could hold the equivalent of 5-6 keys on each side.

That said, besides the titanium hanger, I am working on a titanium bottle opener and a small key shaped USB. I don't want to get to crazy though and turn it into something it wasn't meant to be.

Just wanted to post a quick update on the Legacy Fob. Got the new clicker dies in today and have been playing with some scrap to get the "feel" for them. Will be starting production soon.
