Pedders XA adjustable coilover suspension, roughly a 1.25" drop from factory height.

BehindBluel's, you've hit a nerve with me! I have very serious Chevrolet blood, type: Camaro. I was a Chevy parts man for many years, selling OEM racing parts to all the local dirt track boys. Dirt track is huge where I live (Central Pa.), but my passion was drag racing. Our last effort was a '68 Camaro RS, but that's not very accurate. Don't know if you've ever heard of S&W Race Cars, but they build mostly chassis, upon which our car was based. S&W has been around since 1959 and is considered one of the best. Our car began as an F/MP - G/Gasser, ending up as a bracket racer before we got out of it. We loved small blocks, our car using a 292" (283, .060" over). My partner was a genius at building small blocks. Best "numbers:" 10.11/122.43 mph. Oh - that's QUARTER mile, btw. Your car reminds me so much as ours was pearlescent white base, with red/white/blue stripes diagonally across with our names in gold Trimbrite.

Gorgeous car. My dad briefly had a 2012 SS in Bumblebee yellow with the manual shifter and I learned to drive stick JUST to drive that car. Had to trade it for something more practical in like 6 months when money got tight. I remember how flippin' awesome that thing was to drive. Enjoy your ride, it's hotness.

Nice ride!

The 2011+ Mustangs are also veeeeery nice. It was a close call which I'd go for. That Coyote 5.0 is a hell of a motor. The Mustang shifts a little smoother than the Camaro, as well. The Camaro looks a bit better, to me, and the interior is nicer. I could have gotten a purple 2012 Mustang with a turbo on it that was making a touch over 500 HP at the rear wheel for a bit less money than I paid for this, but...purple, and 50k miles with a turbo. This one was owned by a dealership for two years, then a woman in her mid 50's. Figured much less chance it was run hard.

Before final decision, I test drove:
Challenger R/T: Too slow on the swing out to pass test, too heavy for the hemi and I can't afford the Scat Pack
C5 Corvette: Loved the looks, hated driving it in the city. Too low. Limited utility, as I can take either wife OR kid.
V6 Camaro: Yawn. Wife's 200S is faster.
2012 Mustang GT: Nice car, nice stereo, I'd have been happy with this one as well.

Nice ride! And excellent job on opening the door to a new thread on rinseless washes, waterless washes, polishes, waxes, and micro fibers. That should put some gun lube threads to shame. :) In before someone says "wax, it's not what you use, just that you use it".

Where's the mid-life mistress leaning on these vehicles? A friend of mine buys the mid-life motorcycle - with other old toots goes on a road trip. As he tells it, they stop a rural country store. Some country beauty seems them and decides to come over to chat - UNTIL he takes off his helmet and she sees the old bald head and jowls. She turns around.

Very nice car. It's not a mid life crisis if you always drove fast cars. I've owned the same 68 mustang since 1982. Sadly it's in storage right now and needs some more work. The problem with owning an old car that long is fixing things that you already fixed. There is never enough time or money.
My midlife crisis took a more sedate turn. I had to sell my mustang cobra and my GSXR is in storage with my old mustang. I always tried to have a mustang and a pickup truck to drive. Often I couldn't afford both but when I could I did. Very practical for me. I learned that mustangs and snow do not mix.
My midlife crisis ride is a diesel F250 crew cab. Often referred to as the tank or bus. As soon as I sort out my life (need a new job , new house) I will get a 2007 GT500. And a Harley. The only reason I don't have a Harley now is because of the stupid wait time back in the 90's. Every time I found a Harley something in life interceded.
It's kind of funny. Most of the things I liked 30 years ago I still like. Music, cars, motorcycles, guns, how I dress every day, my haircut. Of course there are things I like now that I didn't appreciate when I was young. Wine and bourbon come to mind.

My wife helped me buy my M3.

She used to be an Auto Broker. We found it used in Indianapolis, flew out one-way and did the deal. Then drove it back through Nashville to Atlanta.

Dinan chipped 6MT in Melbourne Red. Maybe 425HP, but only from 5,000 to 8,500RPM.

At my age if I had a 25 year old mistress I would be like the dog that caught the car. I wouldn't know what to do. More accurately I know what to do; I just can't do it like I used to!! Which is even worst. I noticed ten years ago if I saw a beautiful young woman my first thought was always " what's her mom look like?" But I don't even think about another woman. I got a great new wife so it's kind of like having a mistress. It might be same but different but like many things in life a good one (wife) makes everything better!!

Just an fyi - if you don't read Car & Driver and are a car guy, you should. They've been writing about the development of the Camaro's/Mustangs/ALL of 'em, for years. One of their recent issues featured an annual thing they do called "Lightning Laps," where the Camaro trounced MANY cars costing five digits more. Keep in mind this is a ROAD course - the Camaro's have been staying right with, dare I say (and am only because it's true) the PORSCHES! Gasp! The Camaro is one of THE best handling cars in the world, at any price.

I'm not normally a fan of BMWs, but the M cars just get me. I got dusted by a pair of X5Ms with Dinan badges on that back while heading south on the Turnpike. Guessed that they were headed towards Daytona around the time of the 24 Hour race when they were still running Dinan/BMW engines in the DPs. That was a glorious sound as those things were hauling the mail . . . . plus I thought it was nice of them to draw out any FHP Troopers that were waiting up ahead.

Oh, I get it. :). I was on a mod on a BMW-specific board for many years. The new engines are pretty...complex.

Oddly as I found out though, the S62 4.0 litre V8 powered E9x M cars were some of the most reliable BMWs made...more so than the basic 328is., even.

Out of the seven Bimmers I had, the one I miss most was my 2003 E46 330i with the ZHP Performance Package. Despite a modest 10 HP bump over the regular 3.0, to 235 HP, a sweet short throw 6MT, Alcantara covered steering wheel, smooth inline 6 and M wheels as well as a stainless exhaust made it a real fun package. They rounded out the look with a very subtle ground effects skirt. I'll have to dig out a picture of that car.

I don't know if it counts as "performance driving", but I've been through EVOC and get a refresher every 18-24 months. It's a blast in my Charger. I would like to get to the Blizzak winter driving school at some point, though.

The EVOC (I had to look it up) probably gives you a lot of the skills with oversteer, under steer, etc. I'm assuming a school would add heel-toe down shifting, track handling, track lines and maybe vision. May not be a worth while use of your time but seeing the instructors hit a down shift that was completely smooth was impressive.

EVOC for us covers lines and sight as well, but since all of our cars are automatic there's nothing on heel/toe. I'm sure I'd pick up some things, just not sure how much of a priority it will be for me.

It is amazing to me what these v6 cars are doing now. A 2017 Camry automatic does 0-60 as fast as a Porsche 911 when I was a kid. The 2016 Camaro RS v6 beats a 69 Camaro ZL1 to sixty. I've always been into cars and I really believe we are in the golden age right now. Eventually the emissions regs will choke everything down and we will be left with hybrids and low displacement forced induction engines. The big fire breathing V8s we have today may be the highest evolution of that type of engine. Nice rides you guys. I yearn for middle age so I can scratch that itch. [emoji851]
