What is everyone making for dinner and desserts for the holiday? What are your family traditions? Post pics of your food traditions here!

This is the first beef tenderloin attempt in 11 years for us, and as luck would have it, it turned out great!

We're doing pot roast, of all things. It's just the three of us and it sounded good.

Chinese food. It's been a family tradition, since I was a kid.

Just had Malaysian food for Christmas Eve dinner (wife was born in Malaysia). Son-in-law is cooking some big hunk of meat on the grill tomorrow.

Prime rib last night. Prime rib again today with a crab boil. Prime rib again tomorrow with deep fried turkey. It's ridiculous.

Stuffed shells in homemade meat sauce for Christmas Eve, steak and lobster on the grill Christmas Day.

Oh and dirty martinis, moscow mules, bourbon, some good beer, and maybe a bottle of wine.

Got a prime rib marinating in a rub right now. :)

I'm a prime rib and ham guy exclusively during the holidays.

Sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast casserole is in the fridge chilling. Ham is thawed.

Christmas seems to be pork themed this year.

Went out for Vietnamese last night and going out for Dim Sum brunch after opening presents today.
First time since we got married (20+ years) that we are home with just the immediate family on Christmas.
Nobody wanted to fuss over making big meals this year, although ribeye is on sale for $5.77/lb. I'll be smoking a roast sometime this week.

Wish we were at @luchyman's house though. Malaysian food is my favorite.

With a mixed religion family - Christmas Eve was celebrated at the Japanese restaurant with rolls, tempura and a sushi platter. Not really Chinese, so did I violate a religious law?

Also hit the mixed traditions here. Last night was panko crusted roast chicken and three kinds of latkes- potato & onion, sweet potato & cumin, and a Greek style with spinach (also chard & collard, because reasons) sheep's milk feta, and all served with tzatziki, sour cream, and apple sauce.
There were some beverages of the adult type, and 8-year-old granddaughter was skeptical of the pomegranate soda, until she tasted it.
Today is a big do-if the roads don't end up with a 1/2 inch sheet of ice, that is- at wife's centenarian uncle's place with the family recipe beef burgundy.

We still haven't made lutefisk this season, to the dismay of a few family members.

Usually it is a roast of some kind beef or pork and homemade polish sausage. However this year it was just the immediate family so we did a crab bisque and a couple filets it was delishious. Next week when we see the rest of the family we're doing chinese food.

So, does anyone else like sour cream on their latkes?,

Volunteered for a trip to Sweden (Karlskrona) a ways back and failed to find any lutefisk. The only other food I know of made with lye are olives. . Lutefisk is still on the want list.

Have you ever had lutefisk?

The roast was delicious. To my shame, my heathen family likes their meat well done so I cooked it to an internal temp of 145deg....if it were up to me it would have been taken out at 125 deg. Thankfully, it was a great quality prime rib and it was still plenty juicy and flavourful.

Did a rib roast last year - it was good but a project.

This year NY Strip Steaks on the grill and mashed potatoes and a tray of home made baked ziti with meat sauce.

Did the steaks using a method from JM Campbell. Came out great.

We invite lots of people to a Christmas Eve Brunch.

Kicks off at about 11 am and runs till four or five.
Lots of Norwegian and Finnish foods. Swedish meatballs,
Christmas Breads and as many Norwegian and Finnish cookies
as will fit in the oven. We ran through most of the meats at the
brunch but have a whole lot of cookies and one of the fruitcakes
my wife made left.

Today, in defiance of leftovers, we had a duck for dinner.
Roasted vegetables, potatoes with butter and parsley, and
some other sides.

My wife is a tremendous cook. We bought a stove with two
ovens so she can give full expression to her talents at
the brunch and other parties like it during the year.

Christmas eve is light with finger food, dip, crackers, brie, etc.

Christmas day? Virginia ham. Accompanied by unimportant vegetables and followed by enormous amounts of pie. Virginia ham. Accept no motherfucking substitutes.

Beef roast. Baked 'taters. Mixed veg. Not exactly sure what she did with the roast or the veg, but it was pretty damned good. Bottle of prosecco that we've had a couple of years but don't remember when or where it came from. I expect there'll be something pie-ish soon.

It's just the two of us, so there's no point in making all the various side dishes you'd expect for a large gathering.

Had dinner with close family friends, going on a 10 year tradition.

19lbs of brisket done in my seasoning base/rub and kicked up with chili powder by my bud. He smoked it for 17 hours low and slow.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161226/4d17f7df4b6b6e450d37d553f0bd9d13.jpg

Six adults and 3 littles barely made a dent in this ham. Nicked my finger cutting it up.

Potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green beans almandine, etc.
