Hey guys,

Need your input. Have a pretty specific question. I'm going to compete in a Run N Gun Biathlon next year, and am absolutely not a rifle guy. Not worried so much about the shooting problems, as that will take care of itself with practice. However, I currently own 0 rifles/carbines and will need 1. I shoot the heck out of pistols and have a lot of money tied up in ammo/gear, so I am trying to do this project on a tight budget ($1,500 w/scope). A few notes:

1) I'll be shooting out to 400m, but it's obviously on a generous target. I'd like 1.5 moa if possible out of the gun. I may hunt with it too.

2) Scope? Don't want to break the bank. I've heard good things out of Nikon M223 1-4x. Thoughts?

3) I'm a lefty, so I'm wondering if I'll need any ambi parts? Safety, mag catch, etc?

4) I'll be running, so sling recommendations?

5) Stock triggers.... I'm assuming they will be more than adequate given practice?

Thoughts on Ruger AR556 or M&P Sportsters? They seem in the right price range. Lol

I DONT THINK things like key mod furniture, etc etc is important, I'm fine with very basic stuff. I'm simply wanting this rifle to accomplish this task without spending a ton of cash since my main focus is pistol. Just wanted to ask you gents your opinions. I appreciate any responses and am open to anything. Hope this thread is okay/in right section. Thanks.

Heres a thread on a good 1-6 scope. They make one for a 5.56.

SportsmanSupply om Gunbroker (http://www.gunbroker.com/Semi-Auto-Rifles/BI.aspx?IncludeSellers=350199&mfg=1000072)

Colt 6720s have consistently been selling for under $750 this last week*. That kind of price gives you a lot of room to season your optics & furniture to taste.

Take a look at Aero Precision. Good rifle at a reasonable price. Made in the USA, if it matters to you.
