View Full Version : Why can't I reply to a WTB posting?

I'm new to this forum, so I'm still learning my way around. Are there special rules in force on "For Sale or Trade" forum? Seems so, since there are no replies to any of the posts. Where are those rules posted, so that I can Read the Friendly Manual (RTFM)? :)

LeeC, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

I was looking to pass along some info to Dropkick. I tried sending as a personal message, but the mailbox was full.

The sale forum rules got kind of hidden by the other announcement, but you can see them here (link at the top of the sale forums) (http://pistol-forum.com/announcement.php?f=34). Long story short, only staff, SME, and site sponsors can start threads there, and only the original poster can reply to the thread.

Thanks LOKNLOD. Yeah, I see what you mean about hidden. I wouldn't have thought to look for "sub-forum" rules under the heading "Copyrighted Material".

A simple work around would be to change the title of the first post under "Announcement:" to something like this:

http://images53.fotki.com/v249/photos/5/1410325/10221463/Sale_or_Trade_rules-vi.jpg

Of course that would then sort of move the problem down to the post about "Copyrighted Material", unless the string "Copyrighted Material" can be manually overridden in the parent link.

Anyway, you solved my problem. Thanks!

Lee,
Glad to help -- I think it used to read more like that, but it looks like somehow the later announcement hid it. I'm sure staff/admin can clean that up so it's clearer for all.

Those guys actually, like, get out and shoot and stuff, on the weekends (I know, right?), so they probably just haven't seen this thread yet.

I was trying to figure out the same damn thing. It's really annoying.

Take a step back.

There are no forums like this. There are very few resources like this. Where else can you have a one-on-one with one of the best pistol trainers in the world.

What's $25 a year?

Since there really are only twos FSOT forum, I think we'll move the rules from the announcement to a stuck thread.

Thanks Jay, that works. It might also be helpful to add a link on the rules post to the instructions for becoming a site supporter,

Sellers:

You must be a Site Sponsor (http://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?57-Instructions-for-becoming-a-site-supporter), Staff, or SME in order to start new topics in the FSOT Forum.

or if you're interested in having more site supporters, you might give it a top navigation menu listing.

Thanks,

Lee
