Looking to go to wood grips on my 642. I currently have a set of rubber Hogue Bantams on it and I like everything about them except for the fact that they cling to some of my pockets. Does anybody have/has anybody used both the wood version and the rubber version, and if so is the overall shape (particularly the palm swell) the same on the wood grips?

Thanks!

I have the wood Bantams on a 442 and like them.
I have not handled the rubber ones, but suspect they are about the same.
The woods are better feeling to me than the CT 105 or the factory boots that come on the gun.

Another "Boot Grip" option .....

Another less "tacky" rubber option is the original Spegel Boot Grip design once made by Uncle Mikes. This eBay vendor still has some remaining inventory:

Another vote for the Uncle Mike's copy of the Spegel J-frame boot grips.

They're less tacky and slightly more hand-filling than the Hogue Bantams.

They don't "stick" in the pocket, and they give a bit more cushioning than wood or composite grips.

They're no longer a stock item, but can be had on various sales/auction sites, like eBay.

As an aside, I have a set of these grips on a square butt K-frame, installed in 1990. There has been no discernable degradation of the material in all that time. They last well!

Thanks for the info. At $22, I guess I'll be buying a set of the Uncle Mike's grips as well.

I had a kframe set that i stupidly left on the gun when I sold it. Best grips I had.

Anybody want a set of pachmayr grippers?

A large percentage of the M64s being surplused by VA DOC have these grips and the ones I have seen seem to have survived pretty well.
