Their bite is so putrid that causes lethal infections or serious incapacitation in short order. They bite, follow their prey until it's ready for the taking. So they really win at dawn, as the Turandot script says.

Then only think is that they are not in Africa, as the final frame seems to imply, but in Indonesia. Dove on that island years ago, amazing and I mean amazing dives.
