I don't think the views expressed there are necessarily tied to religion at all, even though the argument is presented in the framework of Christianity. I'm not a religious man and it rang true for me, anyway. That one should be grateful for one's life in this world and aware of one's surroundings are simply good ideas all around, independent of any other considerations.

I think that article serves as a splendid example of objective thinking on the subject and I so wish that the ongoing debate could be discussed with that level of logic and reasoning.
