I've handled, but not shot both. Subjective non-shooting examination proved pretty agnostic as to which feels better in the had to me.

Thoughts on the two pistols? Which is preferred and why, or is just a matter of what feels good to my hand?

Thanks

Steve, my experience is the P30 feels better than almost any pistol in your hand, but the straight sided USP shoots better. Plus, the best HK hammer trigger available, the hybrid match LEM is exclusive to the USP. I would ditch the thumb safety, go hybrid LEM, put the finger ledge OEM base plates on your magazines, either Dawson or HD sights, and shoot the crap out of it.

Couldn't have said it any better...this.

There is a 250rd (new in May) USP 9 with Trijicon HD's + eight 15 round magazines for sale on M4C for $850. Just FYI.

If your mounting a white light; they have different frames. You are limited on the USP compared to the P30

Doesn't G&G or somebody, make a picatinny (spelling?) rail adapter for the USP?

Yes, GG&G... http://www.gggaz.com/hk-usp-flashlight-mounts.html

With regard to the GG&G pic rail adaptor for the USP... A department adjacent to mine issued the USP in .40. Several of their officers (5-6?) purchased those adaptors for use with TLR1 and or SF X200. The lights had a tendency to depart during the draw or under recoil despite the use of thread locker on the set screws. There were no 9mm USPs in the mix so the experience could be entirely related to caliber. Just an FYI....

It is a trigger that combines elements of the LEM and match triggers. Sort of SA quality weight and reset, but initial longer take up as with LEM. Search on HK Pro and you will see many threads extolling the virtues of this trigger. HK can install it at reasonable cost with a 2-4 week turnaround. Others can supplement my summary with the more technical aspects of this trigger.

Thanks. Going through the info now on HKpro.

I'm trying to visualize the trigger feel. What you liken it to a P-35 HiPower?

And another question or two.

Why do you prefer the safety and DA/SA on the 45 and the hybrid LEM w/o safety on the 9/40?

Is there any way to shorten reset on the DA/SA?

Thx

It was a process, but once I was able to shoot the hybrid match LEM, it seemed better than the standard LEM, regular DA/SA or the match DA/SA. Also, I had an interim step on the triggers, where I went to V3, which is decock only, and eliminated the thumb safety part of the lever. I have trouble reliably hitting the thumb safety with a fast draw, and with the hybrid LEM it became superfluous to me.

The USP and HK45/45C have much shorter reset than the P30/P2000. Gray Guns can shorten the reset on all the pistols, at a substantial cost in time and money. I think the reset on the USP is acceptable without modification.

I thought the safety levers on the USP/HK45c were bigger than the p30? I am most likely remembering wrong.

My concern with the USP and a mounted light is finding a holster. I like the ALS and I know this is not an option.
