View Full Version : New Beretta 92 Barrel, use the old locking block or new locking block?

I'm planning to install a new/old stock stainless Elite II Barrel in my lightly used slide. Should I take the locking block off the original barrel and install it on my new barrel so the wear matches the slide? Or should I just use the new locking block that I already installed on the new barrel?

The new locking block appears to fit the slide well. There is no light in front of the lugs when it is placed in the slide. Also, I coated the front of the lugs with magic marker. After I cycled the action and took the barrel out, I could see that the front of both lugs completely contacted the slide.

Thanks

I'd just use the new locking block - the new barrel-locking block unit should wear in as a unit.

Don't reuse the old locking block.

Why the new barrel?

Why the new barrel?

Thanks Les and Ernest.

No particular reason for the barrel change, the old one worked great. I have the new stainless Elite II barrel and thought it would look good in the Inox Vertec slide. Just a fun project to put the pistol together how I would prefer it. Hopefully it will have one of your new rear sights soon to go with the Dawson front.
