I have a LaRue PredatAR 762 and have been very happy with it over the last few years. That said, I try to keep some manner of spare parts on hand just in case. LaRue will sell a 7.62 bolt... but not the entire carrier. I like theirs because it's hard chromed (wish more vendors offered things in HC), but if I want to have a spare BCG it appears it must be another brand.

I've been leaning toward this one from Black List Industries: http://www.blacklistind.com/products/enhanced-308-bcg I also like Aero Precision's stuff, but don't have any experience with their .308 line: http://aeroprecisionusa.com/308-bolt-carrier-group-black-nitride.html

LaRue offers their bolt, but only in a group of other parts I don't need and for $325. http://www.larue.com/obr-762-deluxe-parts-kit

Noveske has brought back the N6, but looking at their site I don't see the .308 BCG's listed - just the 5.56.

It seems .308 gas guns are still not common enough for a large number of reviews and feedback on parts. Anyone have any good/bad/ugly experiences? Whatever I buy I'll test for fit/function, but I really just want to have a spare BCG for this rifle. I'm willing to pay for quality.

Thanks!

I've had an aero come apart on me, ejector and spring puked out and took out the gas tube by getting smashed by the bolt closing. I have the replacement but do not use it.
I went with the AIM Surplus QPQ 308 bcg. No complaints yet and it wipes clean pretty easy, I shoot 100% suppressed so it is dirty.

Cool - thanks! I hadn't even considered AIM.

Wow! You are testing my willingness to spend money I see... lol! The LE price at DSG Arms is higher than your link. What does LMT do to cost $100 more than the other various brands? Not being smartass - genuinely curious. Thanks!

Double extractors
Coating
Supposed to be a more modern/better design

I have an 18" predatar - they are great guns but Larue is proud of their stuff.

Re The LMT BCG:

Uses LMTs Enhanced Carrier and Enhanced Bolt design ( scaled up from the 5.56)

Proprietary coating for durability against heat and wear (similar to NP3/NIB)

LMT's enhanced carrier is supposed to give longer dwell time allowing barrel pressure to be greatly reduced and promoting easier extraction.

LMT's Enhanced Bolt which has a more resilient coating and stronger heat treat, as well as the cartridge case being fully supported by the bolt face.

Double extractors and, if I recall correctly, each has two extractor springs.

Personally, I've had great results with LMT rifles and parts. Plus they've had great real world results with this BCG in the British L129 DMR (LMT MWS).

Thanks gents! I'm sold. I am hoping their coating is more NP3 and less NIB. The NIB 5.56 BCG I have works fine but seems to absorb some of the gunk permanently, and it feels like it's losing some of it lubricity. The hard chromed versions I have shed everything with little effort. I've also been pleased with the NP3 BCG's I've used in builds.

You've run this in your LaRue without issue? I only ask because I believe we are still without any standardization in the 308 AR world. For 5.56 rifles I don't even give it a second thought.

Thanks!

I have not run it in my LaRue but its on my buy list. The odds of it working are as good as any other gun using the DPMS LR pattern Bolt / BCG.

Thanks. Funny part is I'd happily pay for one from LaRue but they won't sell them separately.

Not even close to the strangest thing about LaRue.
