About 10 years ago, when I got into shooting/law enforcement, one of my early mentors let me shoot his S&W model 57 in .41 Magnum. I immediately decided that I had to have one...mainly because it was different, and not something you see everyday.

I finally got one about 4 years ago. A nickel 4" model. Didn't come with a box or anything, and had ugly rubber grips. The nickel on it is immaculate, though, and it has the best DA trigger I've ever felt. It'obviously been worked on. I ended up putting some reproduction wood grips on it. I occasionally shoot it in bullseye matches.

I bought another about a year ago. I sold a S&W 9mm J-frame on Gunbroker, and got to talking to the buyer. He was wanting to sell a blued 57, and he ended up making me a deal on it. He had the box, accessories, and told me that, to his knowledge, it had never been fired. He described it as being in perfect condition.

I've not shot this one yet. I bought it at about the same time my wife found out she was pregnant with our daughter, so I figured I'd wait until she was big enough, and we'll shoot it for the first time together.

It did end up being perfect, but my photography is not:

They are both "N" serial numbers, and both built in the mid-70's, I believe. The S/N's are actually not far apart.

I'm afraid I'm a pretty awful photographer compared to most, but here's an effort to put my 657 among its brethren:

I traded a Beretta 84 and $100 for it a few years back.

M57s and M657s are some of my favorite revolvers.
Of course, Ruger Redhawks in .41 are also interesting to have around.
As is a short barreled Blackhawk "New Model" in .41.

The world needs more Smith .41 mags (together with Marlin .41 mag carbines). It's like the .44 Special and the .45 Colt--a very overlooked caliber

Have a Marlin .41 Carbine hanging about as well.
Put XS sights on it and really like them, and it.

Every time I look at the Marlin .41's, they're just a little more than I want to spend. And each time I'm willing to spend just a little more, they've gone up to the next level I'm uncomfortable with. :)

I guess y'all know Henry has a .41 Mag carbine out. I don't care for the way it loads, but I've been tempted anyway.

I did not know that. I'm going to have to check it out.

I just purchased a new (yes w/ lock) Model 57, along with dies for my 550B. I'm normally a common caliber guy, but the .41 appeals to me for a range of reasons. I'm a revolver noob though, so this should be interesting.

The private property where I hunt includes a cherry orchard and has a healthy population of black bears. If everything works out, the 57 will be on my hip for the bowhunting season as bear insurance.

I was wandering around Gander Mountain Saturday and they had .41 ammunition on the shelf. Made me want a .41 Magnum. I have no need for one, just want it. :)

Not sure what these go for but I thought someone here might be interested. Problem is the guy doesn't want to ship it so I guess someone in Colorado will have to buy it.

You know it's bad when the Barnes ammo is one of the more reasonably priced options...

Dude, if you don't handload a .41 then you should take it up and put the difference into your IRA and buy an island

If that's for me, I'm all setup; 10 gr unique under sns 210 gr swc. But I like factory ammo to keep in the gun.

If not for me, then never mind [emoji3]

You guys are killing me!

I've lusted after a .41 Magnum since I was a teenager.
Smith K frames are a touch big for my small mitts, and I have a positive history with Ruger, and real partial to 4"-ish stainless wheelies. So....

Of course, Ruger Redhawks in .41 are also interesting to have around.

The Blackhawk in .41 is only available blued.
The Redhawk is now available in a stainless 4", but is heavier and may be a tad big.

I'm not set up to handload, and the dearth of ammo available in .41 had me tell myself that I'd be better off with a .44 SBH, or a BH convertible in .45 Colt/.45ACP.

The you guys post this up?!?!

I wonder if I can send a blued BH to Robar for NP3?..........

Magnums, or specials? Because .44 Specials seem to be consistently the highest priced rounds out there.
