I've been on the fence about picking up a USP 9/USP 9C over the past few weeks. What's currently holding me back is the availability of aftermarket sights similar to what I'm used to using. On almost all of my guns, I'm either running a .125 wide tritium or fiber front, with a .140-.150 wide plain black u-notch rear sight (10-8 or Vickers sights). I The only exception would be my 226 Legion with the factory sights.

Now here's my dilemma...I'm having trouble finding my preferred sight preference for the USP pistols. I've tried looking at Ameriglo's offerings, 10-8, Trijicon...and I seem to be striking out. Dawson makes sights that will fit the USP but they have a slanted rear as opposed to a sharp angled rear sight. This isn't a deal breaker but I would like to find a rear sight that I can rack the slide with if I need to. I've thought about Trijicon HDs, but don't want to go that route with the front sight being as wide as it is.

Any suggestions? I could just do a P30 for simplicity's sake but I prefer the way the USP pistols feel in my hands.

If you want a ledge and don't want HDs, you are pretty much SOL. The only real option you have is to keep the factory or Trijicon (non-HD) rear and try to get a Dawson tritium front. The only height they offer near the size of the non-HD Trijicon rear is .155", which is .015" smaller than the Trijicon front...Which should put POI right at the tip of the front sight at 25 yards. Still no U-notch, but better than nothing I suppose.

For the USPc you are even more SOL, unless it uses the same front dovetail as the USP full-size (which it may, I don't know).

Let me know where you find a USPc, they seem to have dried up.

Contact Dawson and see if they'll make a Charger rear for you.

Gunbroker.

And thanks for the suggestions. Irritating that the USP series doesn't get the same aftermarket support as even the P30/HK 45 as far as sights goes. I'll keep looking.

The USP FS isn't a great choice for someone fussy about sights!

Well that's a shame. Maybe the USP isn't right for me.

I am running Trijicon HD sights on mine, which work well for how I use them, but the pickings are slim compared to a Glock, Sig or 1911.

I'm running HDs as well. But yes, sight selection sucks on HKs, particularly the USPc and P2000.

Did some more research and I might give the Heinie Straight 8s a try if I pick up a USP. .125 front post. Not sure about rear notch width. I think these sights will be the best I can get regarding personal preferences and my preferred sight setup. I think the only thing I would do to them is use a paint pen to put a red or orange dot around the tritium vial in the front sight post.
