I'm looking into having one of my G19's cut down to take 26 mags, who do you guys recommend and please post pictures if you have some. I'm open to any shops posting me or contacting me in private if they don't want to post here. This will be my CA CCW special :o

Do it yourself--not hard, just go slowly and carefully.

I'll pay for good work since it's expensive to replace a nearly new Gen 4 here in California haha

Would you have to go through an FFL if the gun was sent back to the manufacturer for replacement or repair (you can have Glock replace your frame for about $150 IIRC)?

It's a no go, if they change the serial number than it needs a new background check and I'm not Law Enforcement. So back on track, Glock 26L anyone?

SSVI, Boresight, all the "big names" are open to it if you ask, IIRC.

I have a G19L done by Boresight years ago. I love it. It's probably my favorite of my GLOCKs .... and most mechanically accurate as well. I love the way it balances and carries.

I will see if I can find pics but Ben's work is excellent. I have a G19 he stippled as well.

Just for info, a G19 slide will fit on a G26 frame, but the front of the recoil spring will show.

I had ColdBore chop a 17 to 19 grip and will be sending him another soon.

Not trying to hijack the thread but anybody use one of these adapters?

Basically lets you use a longer G17 slide on a G19 frame (or G19 slide on a G26 frame). The only professional chop I've handled was a Boresight G19L and I was impressed. If I had the need and funds that'd be my choice.

+1 for cold bore customs.

Although now that I think about it, are you sure you want to do that to a Gen4? I would personally send a gen 3 to cold bore and have them texture and maybe grip reduce, instead of messing with a CA gen 4.

All I have are Gen 4's now, I may pick up some Gen 3 17's for my son's to send to Boresight in the future for the works.

I think the backstrap integration on the Gen 4s are much better and for a carry gun wouldn't hesitate to chop one up.

Cold Bore is definitely a consideration, I'm going to checknthe time frame.

Mind blown! I didn't know one can do that. And it runs well? Is there an adapter for it like the Lone Wolf that isn't lone wolf and takes the stock barrel. I think I read that the LW adapter only accepts LW barrels?

Well I'll have to admit, being from CA I've never actually *held* a gen4 pistol. So they are just a rare valuable property (if in CA) in my head.

Sam will verify, our shop sold thousands under Single Shot Exemptions (before it was banned) and Blue Label.

I don't know how it runs!:) I'd heard the lug/locking-block spacing was the same between the G19 and G26 guns and assembled it just for this thread. Rounds seem to load and eject just fine, but that's just me hand-cycling. Theoretically, I can't see why it wouldn't work just fine other than a bit of a larger opening for debris to enter.

I had not heard of the Lonewolf product before this thread, either, and don't know how it works/installs or if it could work with non-Lonewolf barrels.

I don't like the idea of mis-matching slides and frames, but I really don't like the idea of cutting a perfectly good G19Gen4 for a shorter length grip. I'd rather just carry my G26gen3or4, which is what I do if not carrying my G19gen3or4. I'm not limited to 10-round G19 mags, however. Most folks to whom I've spoken seem to get their 10-round G19 mags to work for them, but that's another subject with which I really have zero hands-on experience.

Sorry you missed out on the Gen 4 availability a few years ago. I felt kinda, sorta, almost free for awhile.

I've shot a 19 slide on a 26 frame. 10 consecutive rounds. Works fine. I've considered getting the lone wolf dust cover and carrying that way. I like the idea.

I did it originally to see if I liked a red dot on a 26 sized gun. I do.

Sorry, should have added that Logan from Fowler Industries did a wonderful job stippling a couple of M&Ps back when they were a thing and I was beyond pleased with the work and the turnaround time of two weeks. This was when he was doing just stippling and before he started doing complete gun transformations. No idea if he offers a chop or not. He's down in the Modesto area if I remember correctly.
