I've been interested in picking up a S&W 340PD, preferably no lock, for a while now. However I came across a 360PD for $625 w/a lock, which is about $200 lower than I've found a new or even used 340PD for. I haven't had a chance to price out a 'plug' for the lock and bobbing or replacing the hammer (if that's possible) to make it more suitable for pocket carry.
Gut reaction. Snatch this up or hold out for the 340PD?
PSA was selling these a year or so ago. Rumor was they were a contract over run. I don't remember the price on them but seems like they were in the $500 range. They're just shown as out of stock now.
$709 new, is one quoted price, here:

Here's a 340 pd no lock for $759. This is where I got mine, and the price is cheaper now. The weight of the 340 pd makes it perfect for pocket carry -- I think a hammer makes it less useful...

If the plan is to bob the hammer and disable the lock, just pony up for a 340PD.
