Looking at sights for my back up rifle. Choices are MBUS Pros, Fixed DD, Troy.

I really like the Pros on my BCM but I am also running a H1.
I have had the Troys before and they are great (aside from their whole political history.
No experience with DD fixed sights but I don't know if I can justify putting an optic on a rifle that won't get used much, but if I did, I would want a MRO or another H1. I would much rather use that $ on ammo and training.

Price notwithstanding, what are your thoughts?

Troy's. Only because they lock once flipped up... Gives you the option to use them as primary sights or secondary if you get another RDS.

I love the Daniel Defense Fixed Front with a Troy Flip-Up Rear. The DD front sight is relieved perfectly for use with a Surefire X300 at 12:00.

I ordered a set of DD fixed for just over $100.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Having used all those listed, say that unless you absolutely need fixed iron sights the magpul pros are awesome.

I am very partial to the BCM/Diamondhead folding irons. Like the Troy, they lock in the upright but come without the political baggage and a better feature set.

Although I've gone BUIS-less with my newest rifle, my favorites are also Diamondhead but mine are Rainier Arms branded. For my taste, locking in the upright position is a must.

Same town. Looks like a Wilson Combat vs. Nighthawk situation, I guess.

Huh? What are you talking about?

wow, there's some industry drama that I know about that you don't? Holy hell!

People still buy stuff from LaRue. Why not buy from Troy, I guess, is my point. I mean what did Troy...almost...do? Hire an anti-gun guy to train people? I guess I just don't see the need to crucify over it.

I frankly don't care either way. But a lot of people do.

And I prefer the BCM-by-Diamondhead product anyway, so it's a win-win.

Rob, what do you prefer about them? They look pretty similar to the untrained eye.

Biggest thing I like is that the rear can be stowed with either aperture deployed. I prefer to have the sight deploy with the small aperture, not the large. I think Troy was working on updating theirs to do the same thing, but I'm not sure if they ever did.

I run fixed unless if I have ano a optic that necessitates a folder. LMT is my choice or a chopped rear carry handle. Yes I shoot irons at distance and dial.

We ran / run Troy's on 60 rifles in the up position as a default.. Under hard field use it wasn't uncommon for the Troy rear peep to get knocked out of position. Even a slight bit out of battery and impact is all but completely off target.

I don't run irons much anymore, but when I do, I do it exactly like Surf detailed. Foldable irons, especially folded down, are not the best way to go, imo.

May I ask why you are not running irons? Is it because optics like the AimPoint are so reliable?

My go to guns have NF scopes on them for primary use, and a T2 as a backup. Not a perfect solution, but it allows for a lot that BUIS don't, while giving up very little, I think.
