View Full Version : FEG Hi-Powers?

One of the Internet gun shops that rhymes with Lud's Bun Shop now has Like New FEG Hi-Powers for $349, but no layaway option. I don't super want to lay out $350 at once since I'm already getting a 64-1 next month.

Any updated general consensus on FEG guns?

Another place that rhymes with Maim Sherplus has Israeli trade-in MKII Hi-powers, genuine, made in Belgium and everything, for $429. And that's what I would buy over an FEG.

An izzy with cerakote, good sights, and a thumb safety is one of my favorite pistols.

Can you link me or pm me? On my phone and can't seem to find them.

Oops - my apologies to the group, I misquoted the price they are $439.99 instead of $429.99. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F1FNHP

How dare you.

Thanks for the heads up. Now, how do I justify $800 on guns when I still have some straggling student loan balance. Hmm. Moral gymnastics time.

So these guns respond well to a refinish? Because I'm thinking one of those in Robar NP3 would look amazing.

Also does getting a frame done by Robar make it slippery or slick at all?

Sorry for the 20 questions just really digging those Hi Powers.

I bought one of the MkIIIs last December from them. Color me "happy".

That is a handsome gun. Does the BHP have a finicky reputation, or do they run?

See my 2000 round challenge. My one izzy ran very well, and it was part of a group buy that everyone was happy with.

They run. Go here http://www.hipowersandhandguns.com/HiPowerComments.html and all will be revealed.

I had an FEG HP once. Mine would not take aftermarket parts (eg, extended safety) without extensive fitting, and real BHP mags wouldn't fit. YMMV, and it's been almost 20 years, but there are a world of HPs out there.

Just spring for a Nighthawk. Buy once, cry once and all that. :D

The MkIIIs are known to run. Mine doesn't seem to care what it's fed. I've not run a 2K challenge with it because the ghost of my uncle will haunt me if I were to put a centerfire gun away from a day's shooting without cleaning it. :D

I did replace the stubby safety with a C&S one.

I've read that some of the earlier marks have been known to need a little bit of work in order to reliably feed JHPs. But I don't have any personal experience there.

It took me a few seconds to realize that "izzy" didn't mean that it was an Izhevsk M91/30.

I feel the siren song of another monetary rabbit hole.

As a passionate lover of the Beretta 92 and Classic P-Series Sig Sauers, I'm a well documented sucker for a good looking metal lady.

I've bought 4 surplus hi powers. One browning the rest fn. All needed needed recoil springs. All worked even in the abused surplus state. I have a thread here about the worst one. Three have the old style hump barrel which still feed gold dot +p with no problems.

Two surplus hp's a browning fixed up with Novak sights, C&S hammer, vz grips and black t finish. The top fn as I got it but for the grips. Both hp's were from the $350.00 bargain bin.
