Happy Passover everyone.

Please keep in mind that the F.A.S.T. of the firstborn is to be done prior to drinking the 4 cups of wine at the seder.

That is all.

I had Chinese take out for dinner and fried turnip cake for breakfast.
Am I destined for Gehenna?

Good Pesach to all.

I survived. Must have been all of the eye candy because the Mazza just about killed me. Very enjoyable evening with a great family.

Chocolate covered matzoh is the enemy of AIWB. Not that I did that - just theory. Good Pesach to all, ditto.

Last night voodoo_man and I were sending each other burger pictures......talk about a couple of Jack-Jews on Passover. I did have some gefilte fish today...because I actually like it.

Pesach Sameach !

I asked the waiter at the Chinese restaurant if they had any Chinese Jews !

He looked puzzled and went to talk to the restaurant owner. He came back and said SORRY SIR, WE ONLY HAVE APPLE AND ORANGE JUICE !

When I was wee, my buddy's grandmother made a dish from matzoh soaked in gefilte fish juice (we called it the "jelly") then dredged in egg and fried in a pan. I wish I could recreate it it was so good.

I've looked several times recently for the RED Batampte horseradish at the local groceries. I won't eat gefilte fish (which is easy to find) without it. The red stuff is also great on P'tcha (http://www.tabletmag.com/jewish-life-and-religion/97599/a-disappearing-delicacy), which I've fallen back in love with thanks to finding the recipe on the internet about a year ago.. Hadn't had any since my grandmother passed over 35 years ago. For whatever reason, the white horseradish doesn't cut it.

Pesach Sameach to you all, too. Not being an LEO, I had no idea that landsmen were so strongly represented therein.

Re Gefilte Fish- grew to hate the commercial jugged stuff. My brother and his (now-ex) started making it from scratch. A world of difference, I tell you.
Now even my Minnesota swede spouse enjoys it.

Also, making the fresh horseradish and adding beet juice for color and sweetness is great; you can dial in the flavor and heat based on how strong your horseradish root is, and it keeps well.

As it should be. I grew up in Northern Iowa, with the same group of taciturn olsens, jensens, and andersens. Fiske boller, which you can't tell from good gefilte, is almost as common as abelskivver.

Homemade horseradish - my step grandfather's favorite. Awesome!

Personal best Passover eating

2 matzo balls
Reload plate, then lamb, smoked chicken, brisket & a meatloaf wrapped around ground chicken stuffed with mashed potatoes all in under 5 minutes.

It was awesome.

That last glass of wine must have been a mofo.
(and yeah, that meal sounds good.)

You have no idea...

Home made bottles Nebbiolo & Colombard were in abundance.

I'm not saying you need to go orthodox all the time...but in Passover it may be recommended.

I don't have a trace of jewish ancestry in me, but I will say that the last time I went to an orthodox seder I got absolutely hammered. The couple I was dining with was very strictly orthodox which apparently means alcohol consumption that is proportionate to the amount of cookware used in the making of the meal. Dessert consisted of 4 pickelbacks, after which I somehow managed to walk the quarter-mile back to my apartment with a tupperware full of the best hummus I've ever had.

Definitely hoping for the chance to go to another.

Sounds like you are talking about matzah brei (https://www.google.com/webhp?q=matzah+brei+recipe). Its not usually made with gefilte fish (I can't find such a recipe). Perhaps you are remembering something.

Oh, and Google told me this:

Not the fish, just the jelly the fish comes packed in.
This does look about right, except, I guess, she substituted the fish jelly for the water in the recipe.

Can't believe you ruined for me with the KK reference. :p

I love matzoh brei! As kids we used to get a small dose of Manischewitz in seltzer water, so we could take part. Anybody ever see the Ghost of Elijah? My step grandfather used to wiggle the table to show he was taking a sip. Robot Chicken at a skit when the Ghost actually walked in and everyone headed for the hills.
