My wife and I are traveling through the Tucson / Phoenix Arizona area by RV over the next couple weeks.

If anyone knows of a good pistol range in Tucson, or Phoenix, or in between, near or on I10, please let me know. I need to do some proficiency drills / shooting of both my VP9 and PPS M2. Need a range out to at least 25 yards. Indoors would be nice, but not required.

I'd also like to get info on any good instructors in the same area for some 1:1 training. Looking to pay for an hour, or possibly two, for a private evaluation of my grip, stance, trigger press etc. by someone who can help.

We are currently in Las Cruces NM, and plan to be in Tucson on Thursday for at least a week. Then we as headed to Phoenix, not sure how long at this point.

Thanks a bunch.

Rich

Rich,

Chris Lapre is a member here who hosts and teaches a ton of classes in the south Phoenix area (Casa Grande). He's a super squared away fella that might be a very good contact for you. He's only on here occasionally but I'd recommend dropping him a pm.

Sent a FB Message, bro - Tucson is home to Rob Lisak, a seriously good bro!

Ask him if you can practice with him, maybe? Might be worth more than an lesson...

Ben Avery Shooting Facility is off the I17 up to Flagstaff. They have on site camping for shooters.

Sierra Vista Range, south of I-10 at Benson and Tombstone. Pretty decent public range, and you can go see Tombstone, too. Check the calendar at the website: http://www.sierravistarange.org to see what events might be going on.

Tucson has, or used to have, an indoor range in town, and a decent range west of town. There are a few indoor ranges in the Phoenix valley, and outdoor ones around the edges.

PHX has a number of range options and some good local instructors.

http://www.c2tactical.com This indoor one is of I10. I've used them once or twice when installing sights.

http://caswells.com Also indoors off the 60 which maybe out of the way for you.

I'd also highly recommend Chris Lapre if he is available. I have AARs on PF if you're interested. Disclaimer I've become good friends with him over the years since attending his classes so take it for what it's worth.

That's not the range I used in near Sierra Vista, but they make you dress funny and the membership rules might be prohibitive...

When in/near Tuscon, don't miss out on the Sonora Desert Museum.

Ft. Bowie is also worth a stop, though it might be off your path.

Chris is a busy dude, but I can give him a shout and give him a heads up to see if he can free up time for some private training. Actually, I'm shooting with him this weekend so I can tell him then.

Look up Glen Stilson at Independence Training in Phoenix. Excellent coach, and he regularly does private lessons, generally up at Cowtown in NW Peoria.

Totally agree with Cecil about checking out Glen and the dudes at Independence Training. (http://www.independencetraining.com/)

Also check out Scottsdale Gun Club in north Scottsdale. Beautiful showroom and the nicest indoor facility that I've been in in a long time. There's another nice fun store next door.
I was not personally impressed by Caswell's (but it's fairly close to a Camping World) or C2 Tactical (close to Ikea, I hear chicks dig that ;) ).
Ben Avery and Rio Salado are very nice outdoor ranges.

Apparently there is also a range near Casa Grande (between Tucson and Phoenix) called Elsy Pearson (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Peart+Rd+%26+S+Isom+Rd,+Casa+Grande,+AZ+85193/@32.801741,-111.721129,673m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x872a64362ccf04d9:0x464fd b58c8601d12?hl=en). I understand it's free and unstaffed.

Update: unfortunately, due to my LP regulator top blowing off, we had to continue to Mesa to the nearest Airstream dealer.

We're here for four nights leaving Tuesday for CA.

I passed C2 Tactical on 10 coming in to town, is that a decent range?

How about Caswells?

Edit Sorry, missed Pennzoils post above.

Thx...Rich

Yeah I agree on Glen and Independence Training also. Great people!

I sent Rich a pm on Caswells.

Let me know if I can help.

Thank you sir. Our plans are not quite fixed at the moment due to some ongoing issues with our RV. I will be in touch if it might be possible to connect up, as soon as we have an outlook for our repairs.

Many thanks again. Rich
