I searched but couldn't find any Beretta love so here we go!

Here's my Beretta/Wilson 92G Brigadier Tactical that's had a little extra work done. Please forgive the cellphone pictures.

Once my 96G-SD gets back from Wilson I'll post it up.

If you have a 92FS compact and didn't get the Wilson ultra thin VZs...well you should. This one went from being a gun I really like, to a gun that just hits the sweet spot for me. Its big brother will also be getting a new set of grips soon.

Beretta 92FS it was a special run that I bought last year. It has a brig hammer and the wooden grips. Other then that it's a stock 92.

Thanks for starting the thread. Now that there is one, I was hoping David B would find it and show us what his latest effort is. Is that Wilson's fiber optic mod to a standard 92 front sight, or somebody else's mod?

Italian gun, made in 1990. Which is the year Die Hard 2 came out. Relevant because after watching John McClane take out a bunch of terrorists using the 92FS I wanted one in the worst way.

Found in a local gunstore languishing in the case. Hardly ever fired. Seriously...the only wear marks are the little shiny spot visible on the slide. Everything else is as new. I don't think it's had more than a box of ammo through it. Not bad for $375, right?

Indeed it is. 2003 mfg (I think), new in box with papers. I traded a used M&P .40 for it. I can get another use M&P .40 all day long for $350. So I think I got a good deal.

The DAK beneath it was $385... DAO has a place. It's not a fast trigger, but it works.

I bought this 92G Vertec off Gunbroker last December. It was manufactured in 2005. I'd wanted a Beretta for a while. When I saw this model that I didn't even know existed that was reason enough for me to buy it. I added new grips, a Wilson Combat short reach trigger, and a 16lb hammer spring. Unfortunately I haven't shot it enough to say much else about it.

That Vertec 92G is the bomb! I think that is what a Beretta should be. The M9A3 is fairly close to that from what I can tell.

Elites are so satisfying to shoot. I typically dislike the Brigadier slide throwing balance off but love it when added to the other tweaks in the Elite or Elite II.

On the other end of the spectrum, Centurion D models just look so smooth and handy for a fullsize gun.

In that pic should be an LTT 92, an Elite II, an Elite, two 92G Vertecs, a 92G, a 92G-SD, a factory OD 92FS, a 96D, an 85F, a PX4 Inox, two PX4 Compacts, and a PX4 Subcompact.

Missing are a Centennial, a Ti Tomcat, another PX4 Compact, and a 92D Centurion.

I try to justify this amount of Berettas by not owning any other types of handguns except for a token STI 1911 and some S&W revolvers. :)

IMO, the holy grail is something more rare like a 93R, CB, Stock, Combat, Billenium, Steel I, Centennial, etc.

I carried a 96 IWB for a year and a half. Only stopped because the safety ate through my shirts faster than I liked. If Beretta releases a railed 92D compact, I'll go back to the series with a quickness. Unrelated:

Can someone throw up a pic or two of a CC and a P229 side by side?

Sure. Standard PX4 Compact G-Type 9mm, non-CC, next to P229R DAK .40. The 229 is assembled incorrectly by yours truly at present, hence the wonky trigger.

Put together my favorite Beretta combo...Vertec frame with G slide. I have another that is all black and mostly Beretta parts. This one is a two tone...speaks to my inner 80's. Wilson done slide with fiber optic sights. Wilson grips and some other mods from another member here on the lower. Elite barrel. This will get a Wilson trigger bar and action work by LTT in the future.

Just scored this immaculate 92 with pepperoni sight for $400. The manual and box look fairly old but whoever had it took great care of it. Very clean, no scratches, cleaning brushes are still there, even the box is in great shape. Even had the original grips and screws so I put those back on and I'll sell the Houge. I almost don't want to use it as my range gun because I'm not going to be nearly as nice to this thing as the last owner. But then I remember that they still make these things and a new one is about $500 by the time you take it home and I don't feel bad anymore.

The 92F I picked up last week was failing to extract resulting in double feeds. Put in a new extractor and WC +50% extractor spring and it runs like a top now even on Winchester Forged steel cased ammo. Doesn't fling the cases all that far though like all the reviews said it would. They do land in a consistent area about 4 o'clock though. Windy as hell and my target stand kept blowing over so I only shot 150 rounds.

So, a couple seconds later, when I moved...the shooting part happened. She ended up running 150 rounds in five target strings. Worked on a lot of diagnostic stuff. She has only been shooting pistols for six months with any level of seriousness and doing really well. She also shot her Shield and dismissed it fairly quickly. She absolutely loves her Mod 5 PX4CC.

Story is someone ordered this CX4 online and he was over it before he even shot it. I noticed it had a barcode tag around the trigger guard that the gun store doesn't put on their stuff. Doesn't mean it was never shot, Classic Firearms had a bunch of CX4's not long ago and some were police trade-ins. In any case it came with the box and all the original stuff and is in really nice shape.

I got a PX4 compact yesterday and shot it today for the first time. I seem to shoot it about as well as my Glocks, which is honestly a little disconcerting. The pistol shoots to the dot and bullets tend to impact at the point of aim rather than below and to the left of it. I've never really given any non-Glock pistol a chance, but I think I'll buy a holster for this PX4. I'll convert to G configuration later this week.

EDIT: The frame looks black in the picture, but it is really one of the gray pistols.

I enjoy seeing expensive guns with range wear. Something satisfying about seeing a very nice thing used as designed. I’m a big believer in drinking the good wine and using the good silver, life is short. If I can ever afford a Wilson 1911 you can bet your bottom dollar it’s gonna show holster and magwell wear. :)

Another member PMed me asking my thoughts. It's a neat gun that doesn't really excel at anything. The trigger and sights aren't as good, nor is it as accurate as my Mark 2. It's not as easy to shoot and manipulate as the M&P 22. It's relatively heavy, the magazine release is in a weird spot and the grip angle is quite rakish. That being said, it has become one of my favorite guns to take to the range. Magazines are a lot less expensive than anything from S&W. It's a good steel gun and has the integrated rail if I wanted to go the red dot route.

Now I just need a carbine kit for it...

Believe it or not, the owner had a very good reason to paint them up.

Good reason or not, you would think that, at a minimum, he'd have used some gold inlay. Because you don't really get the full "I'm a big shot in the Cartel" look without gold inlay. Admittedly, though, he came fairly close.

Well, I talked to the owner of these two pistols, and got the go ahead to post the story...

My friend owns a gun/archery range, and his range has been featured on several cable shows (Doomsday Preppers, The Little couple and others) along with several news shows. He closes down the range and lets them film segments for shows.

Well, a while back, he got called and asked about filming in private, and was asked in particular about the archery range section he has. Among the questions were things about cross bow rental, and some other obvious tip off questions. So my buddy straight up asked when Norman Redus and company would be arriving. The producer laughed and confirmed the suspicion of the star, and set a date for "Norman Redus' Ride Across America" to film. Subsequent follow up phone calls came over time, and they let spill that Sean Patrick Flannery would be showing up with Norman!

So what does my buddy do? He buys two NIB M9's sends them out for custom Boon-dock Saints paint, buys some high end cross bows, calls me to assemble the Berettas (and maybe have some special firearms brought out)... ANNNNNNNNDDDDDD he gets a call cancelling the whole event. Mind you, he is $3k in the hole buying toys to make the show more entertaining. The producers "felt in the current political climate, basing a episode on guns and crossbows did not fit in with the channels audience, and would be to controversial to air"...

So, they backed out and left him holding the check.

Anybody want to buy a pair of custom M9s?
(I can vouch they are assembled properly and do fire!)

Just picked up a very nice used 92FS for a reasonable price and on my way home I got notified that the M9-22 I ordered had come in so I picked that up too. The 92FS is going to be an experiment of sorts. It's going to get a Langdon TJIB, G-conversion lever, larger mag release, and new grips and I'm going to see just how good I can make a 92 without sending it off to someone, as well as using it to figure out which grips and mag release I prefer.

These are the old texture VZ tactical slants I think. They were already on the gun. They have a new version where the texture goes higher. These are about the same thickness as the factory plastic grips so they fit me a little better than the ultra thin LTT grips.

The picture is a little blurry, but hopefully it'll give you an idea. The gray cerakote on the CC is a pretty close match to the gray frame, but not quite perfect. I think I prefer the subtle black on gray two tones to the monochromatic versions.

Picked up a second used fullsize PX4 and a used subcompact PX4. The fullsize gave me a few BTF's and then a case got stuck in the chamber so I'm think it's got a bad extractor/spring. Gonna replace both because no reason not to. The subcompact is fairly snappy. I didn't shoot it next to my Glock 26 but if seems snappier than the 26. The PX4 subcompact has a typical Browning-style lockup and uses two equal length recoil springs. I think that the PX4sc might benefit from a recoil spring setup more like the Glock's but there's probably patent issues to deal with. Or since the compact has the same barrel length as a G26, just replace the current PX4sc with a PX4 compact that has a shorter grip, maybe even shorter than the current sc so the mags hold an even 10 rounds and then offer a sleeve for the 13 round mags.

Also brought the M9-22. This thing is a lot of fun. I could burn through a lot of .22 ammo in short order if I had more mags. The only malfunctions I've had were with Winchester M-22 ammo. That stuff is really shitty and inconsistent. I wanted to shoot my .22 revolver I just got but the second round I fired was a squib and blocked the barrel. Recoil was all over the place and a few rounds didn't eject or didn't cycle enough to pick up a fresh round.

How do you like the PX4 subcompact ? How does it compare to a Glock 26 in size?

It's bigger than the 26 in every way except muzzle to back of slide. Bore axis is higher, grip is longer (the PX4sc hold 13 rounds), the gun is thicker even before the decocker/safety levers, pretty much every way it's bigger and enough to put the SC out of the same class as the G26. The G26 is right at the upper limits of being a pocket gun and the PX4sc just isn't a pocket gun. For me, I usually carry my G26 in that 5th watch pocket of my jeans and I think the SC will work for that too so it's still a grab-and-go gun for me if I can find a similar kydex trigger cover (aka "Mexican carry" holster) for the SC. I'll have to shoot it more and experiment with it and the compact more to see if there's a place for it in my system. I would like to see Beretta do a single stack PX4 similar to the S&W CS9. I also think the compact's slide is short enough for most people so maybe they could do a cross between the two that uses the compact's slide and locking system but the subcompact's grip or maybe even a shorter 10-round grip.

Thanks . I wish Beretta would make something along the lines of a 92 version of the 42/43. In FS and G configuration.

These are Wrangler carpenter jeans. It doesn't work with some jeans because of the pocket size.

Bigghoss, would you be willing to snap a photo of yourself carrying like that? I had never thought of this and I don’t think any of my jeans have watch pockets big enough to carry a G26 but I’m curious how everything would look when actually worn. Thanks.

That's actually a pretty snazzy set up.
