I work in an office, thankfully one without a "weapons banned on the premises" policy. I usually pocket-carry a pistol in my strong side, and I want to have a knife I can quickly deploy from the support (left) hand.

The problem I'm running into is that most of the support-side capable folders I'm finding have a clip that starts 1/4" or more below the end of the knife, which means that it says "KNIFE!!!" to anyone glancing in my direction. Is there a support-side folder out there (preferably under $100) with a clip similar to the one on this Boker (http://www.exurbanleague.com/Portals/2/knife_pocket.jpg) which shows just a clip when carried in a pocket?

More information can be found in this thread on TPI (http://www.totalprotectioninteractive.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18315); if you have to sign up to view the thread, go ahead and do it, as that forum has a wealth of experience (it's SouthNarc's own little forum).

Beyond that, there are many third party vendors that make deep carry pocket clips for a variety of hole mount patterns. For example, this clip (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Blue-Titanium-Low-Rider-Pocket-Clip-Made-for-Benchmade-710-Griptilian-Barrage-/181948901045?hash=item2a5cffe6b5) fits the Emerson/Benchmade 3 hole pattern (and can be had in a couple different colors from the same vendor).

For Benchmade's Mini-Grip, you can call them up and request a replacement clip for the Adamas model. It is basically a factory option of the vendor you just linked to. And Benchmade will send it for free.

What about center line carry?

If you need a tool to bring out to cut boxes, etc. I would pocket carry a swiss army knife or a leatherman of some kind. Those don't shout WEAPONS!

If you want something to shiv a fool with go with the Raven Pocket Shield with a fixed blade mounted to it. I don't know why typing shiv a fool makes me so happy. I got two reloads in mine right now. It's sweet.

I have carried a Benchmade Griptillian or Spyderco waved Delica in office environments for many years. I have never found a pocket clip to be an issue. The most important things are to treat it like a tool rather than a weapon and to call as little attention to it as possible.

If you want to completely eliminate the clip, I will second the recommendation of the Chris Fry/Raven Pocket Shield.

I'm currently working in a semi-office environment full of "educators," and there are signs that say it's a "weapons free" workplace. (I don't think that means what you think it means!) I had a knife clipped to my pocket when I interviewed, and I've had it clipped to my pocket every day I've worked, and nobody has said a thing to me about it. It's not anything gigantic (I don't think one of the big ZT knives would be a great choice), but neither is it tiny, and it sure isn't invisible. As BillSWPA said, just don't call attention to it and you likely won't have any issues.

Years ago I carried something about like this http://www.sogknives.com/tactical/knives/flash-ii-tanto-black-tini-straight-edge-clam-pack.html mine had an aluminum handle and held up pretty well. I think the clip style is common to several SOG models but don't hold me to that. Anyway while the knife may prop open your pocket a bit it will actually ride slightly below the top of the pocket and is reversible. I used mine for years working in a TSC store with a pretty good amount of use cutting rope, breaking down boxes and various other tasks as well as daily carry.

What about center line carry?

I carry something there when I'm not at work, but a tucked-in polo and khakis presents very few concealment options.

How about just carrying a folder in your pocket rather than clipped? Slower but day to day, how badly do you need it?

Pocket shields are good suggestions and you could just find a small fixed blade that allows you to pop the sheath off with your thumb. I sometimes carry a CRTK Ryan Plan Bthat way. Execrable sheath for clipping to your clothes but easy to pop off with your thumb.

Check out one of the rubbery Nemesis holsters for a small auto. I carry a small fixed blade clipped into the Nemesis and carry in the front left pants pocket. It should also work for a folder. One of the Mag-packer versions might work as well. Less than $17 from a few vendors.

lowest profile folder clip would be the ones John Graham was using on his Razel folders. CRKT made a version that is now discontinued. Pocket shield or a pocket holster for a fixed blade would work very well, in this role.

That's a pretty nice low profile clip. I found the CRKT knives on sale:

I just got back from a business trip to California and carried a Delica in the off-side pocket because low profile.

I carry a Spyderco Sage, which has a low-profile clip. Big enough to be useful, but small and classy enough that it doesn't scream weapon to the sheeple.

I know a guy who went into the khaki pants world of work from an action type job and had a couple of his knives, and clips on said knives, coated with khaki, Ceracoat I'm pretty sure.

Honestly, I think most of the "sheeple" aren't checking pockets for clips. I bet lots of people who don't carry knives don't even know that you *can* clip them to pockets. I sort of reflexively look for them, but I carry one, so... It's probably a lower-grade version of what happens when you first start carrying a concealed gun and you think everyone is staring at you, and then you slowly come to terms with the fact that most people wouldn't even notice if you were open carrying.

To the OP: have you thought of clipping your folder to your waistband (appendix position or not), under your belt and blousing your shirt over the knife?

I dress business casual and carry a Benchmade Emissary (http://www.benchmade.com/emissary-3-5-family.html).

The clip rides higher which does a better job of hiding the handle. I also carried the previously mentioned SOG Flash for a while. Not nearly as nice as the Benchmade but still a decent knife.

Only knife guys have ever bothered to ask what's in my pants ;)

My favorite deep ride clip is on my ZT 0560BW. I'm not sure if it is an intentional design feature, but it seems to have two ride positions- one with about a 1/4" of handle visible; the other hides the handle completely. It is a rather small clip that is anodized black making for a very low signature. For such a big knife it hides well. The rest of the knife rocks too.

Spyderco PPT rides very low & has a great grip & blade design. Its my usual NPE-ish knife

If it's a popular knife there is probably an aftermarket deep carry pocket clip for it. This one on my Southard is from pops custom clips.

I like the Surefire Delta folding knife. It's discontinued, but you can still find them around. The clip is a wire so it doesn't draw as much attention plus it has a runner piece to prevent scratching your car.
