I know there is probably a disconnect because I haven't read the books, but I enjoyed the first movie just fine as a fun actiony popcorn flick. Looking forward to the second one.

In the books Reacher is like 6 foot 2 or something, 200-something pounds. I have liked quite a few Tom Cruise flicks, but when I first saw he was casted as him I was really let down. But I really really like the books so I might have been regardless. Also for those who do like Lee Child's books he has a new one coming out this year. Also it was cool to see all these places that I see all the time in the first Jack Reacher movie as it was mostly filmed in Pittsburgh.

I'll watch a solid B movie anytime. I'm not a Tom Cruise hater, and I like action flicks. Even some pretty unrealistic ones.

Meh. The Reacher novels are phenomenal. The last Reacher movie left too much to be desired. Reacher's physical size is such an integral part of his character; I like Tom Cruise, but he was not the right choice for this role.

I enjoyed the heck out of the first flick. The sound engineer shoulda got some kind of major award capturing the Chevelle's sweet exhaust tones. And then there was DuVall.

I found it quite a bit more cerebral than the usual action flick. I've read a handful of the Reacher series but each successive version began to read like the last one, so I gave up on them.

I loved the flick.

The books are OK, I've read most of them, but they are mostly pretty thin, violent, adolescent revenge fantasies. Despite Cruise's size being "out of character" he nailed Reacher perfectly. Give much of the credit to writer/director Christopher McQuarrie (Way of the Gun, second best movie ever made).

Read one Jack Reacher book and stopped. Too many gun mistakes and improbable stuff.
Have not seen the films and will not bother with them either.

Did not like the books. Like someone doing a pastiche of Mike Hammer, but even less self aware. The movie was fun though.

Yup, I read most of them. I call 'em "popcorn books". Light, fun reading and hardly anything to digest.

What's the first best movie ever made?
