Its a two way street the stuff I've seen house guys do is pretty unreal. For example the mill guys wanted to set a site drain box and we were going to reroute the piping to it which consisted of two 14" a 16" and an 8" line. So this was a large box picture a minivan made out of 3/4 plate steel. It needed to be drifted into place well they got their rigging all messed up and decided to cut the slings with a tourch send the giant recking ball swing about 10 feet crashing into place and then the oil soaked wire slings proceeded to start fires all over as they wipped about. I just wish I would have been able to record it.

Dinner in TX - had to go to a funeral of a good friend in Brownwood, TX yesterday. A group of us drove up and stopped on the way in a BBQ place. Had a baked potato and brisket but has we were sitting there, in came two local lawman, in boots, cowboy hats and shirts. Handcuffs on the belt and each had a 1911 with two magazines. Big old guys. Looked like the place in the video. No grizzled old waitress though. Cute teenage young ladies and a young guy running the pit. Good meal on a sad day.

Over the holiday, I was in Texas with the fam. Mother-in-law decides we need to go to the Fort Worth Stockyard for a steak dinner, she's buying. Before going into the restaurant, we wandered the area a bit. We stepped into "M.L. Leddy's Western Wear." And whilst inspecting a pair of $8500 custom boots, I let out an audible expression of mirth at the price tag. Upon hearing my mirth I had a salesman snidely ask me, "Well sir, we are a store for consouissers of western wear and tradition. Perhaps it isn't for you?" To which I replied,

"Consouissers of western wear and tradition?! Every fucking salesman INSIDE THIS BUILDING IS WEARING A HAT. Maybe your mama didn't teach you, but in western culture, we take our hats off inside a building."

Salesman, "Pardon me sir, I didn't mean to offend."

"Well, at least I know where the term asshat came from. Because everyone ass in this place is wearing a hat."

And then I walked out.

Seriously, that clip reminded me of propper manners when he removes his hat in the restaurant. And this whole adventure stuck in my craw something fierce. Selling a bunch of tenderfoot bullshit to big city folk and acting like they are somehow higher and mightier than those around them. Those fellas were the definition of carpetbaggers.

I agree, and hats indoors on men always bugs me, and it is becoming more and more common.

I always remember back to the days when Bum Phillips was coaching the Huston Oilers. When asked why he didn't wear his trademark hat (I'd take a shot at what it was, but I'm a northerner, and I know I'd get the terminology wrong) at home games, he said his mother told him to always take his hat off when he was indoors. The Oilers, of course, played their home games indoors in the Astrodome.
