I have a late 80's 92F compact with really nice wood grips. As aesthetically pleasing as the wood is the pistol feels thicker than I would like in hand.

I have a full size 92A1 and the OEM plastic grips feel fine. I want a similar feel (reduction in thickness) on the 92F. Can this be achieved with the standard Wilson Combat grips or would I need the Ultra Thin grips?

Ultra thin WC grips will make it feel like a 1911.

One of the differences between the newer 92A1 and the late 1980s guns are the radius on the backstrap. The new radius makes the gun feel thinner in the hand and decreases trigger reach. As such, I would expect the Wilson Ultra Thin grips would be needed on the older 92F. The below link shows the differences in the backstraps.

I haven't handled them on a Beretta, but Ergo Grips make a difference on a 1911. They are now available for the Beretta 92 series. It may be a less expensive way to get little bit thinner grip.
