Week 155: Sticky Presidente

Results may be posted until April 11th, 2016.

Designed by: Gabe White, based on the classic Col. Jeff Cooper drill.
Range: 10 yards
Target: Three USPSA Metric or IDPA targets, plus one no-shoot target, see below for details
Start Position: Facing uprange, wrists above shoulders
Rounds Fired: 24

Set up the three targets so they are spaced three yards apart, or as close to that as you can get. The middle target needs a no-shoot placed on it, so that only the top 25% of the lower A-zone is visible, like this:

Start with pistol loaded with exactly six rounds and holstered, facing uprange with wrists above shoulders. Upon start signal, turn and draw and shoot two shots to each target, reload the empty gun, and shoot two shots to each target. No extra shots allowed. Record your time and hits. Then repeat the drill, for a total of 24 shots. Concealment is optional.

We'll score this drill time-plus (raw time + penalties), because that's quick and easy. A/-0 zone is no penalty. B/C/-1 zone is + 0.5 seconds per shot. D/-3 zone is + 1.5 seconds per shot. Miss is + 2.5 seconds per shot. No-shoot hit is + 10 seconds per shot.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:

No IPSC targets so I used P-T's and a 3x5 card for the obscured center target.

Equipment used: Glock 22 w/9mm conversion, Safariland ALS holster, vest, USPSA metric target
Raw time on first run: 12.87
Penalties on first run: -1 x5 for 2.5
Total score on first run (raw time + penalties): 15.37
Raw time on second run: 12.35
Penalties on second run: -1 x7; -3 x1; Miss x1 for 7.5
Total score on second run (raw time + penalties): 19.85
Grand total score (raw time + penalties from first and second run): 35.22
Observations: anything you noticed: Fun drill. Started slapping at the trigger and threw some shots low on the middle target but still in the B zone. Still need to work on draw, reloads and getting on front sight more quickly. Or in other words work on everything more.

1st run - 11.41 - 2c 1ns 9a = 22.41 (11.41+.5+.5+10)

2nd run - 10.24 -3c 1b 8a = 12.24 (10.24+.5+.5+.5+.5)

The first run I went for all lower a's and dropped one into the no shoot. Bad. The next run I just went for upper c/headbox and obviously it paid off.

For the target I split the A zone of my IPSC targets with 3x5 cards and used it as a no-shoot. Pic from one of my clean runs:

G19 Gen4 in a Blade-Tech Phantom IWB at 3:30 under an unbuttoned shirt.

Shot this cold using USPSA targets.

String #1
9.37 sec
0.50 (one round landing in the C zone of the first target)
9.87

String #2
9.50 sec
3.00 (one C on first target, one complete miss on middle target)
12.50

Grand Total Score: 22.37

I made the decision to go for the head every time when shooting the middle target. It all went pretty well until the second attempt after the reload during the second string. While transitioning from the first target to the head of the second, I didn't make a hard stop and swung past the head, sending the bullet just to the right of it.
