Sorry, I meant Robbie won "carry optics" at area 2.

I saw John at a recent match. He was wearing the funniest pants imaginable.

He will be shooting PCC with an MP-5 :p

More shooters shot Limited-10 and Revolver than Carry Optics? Well alrighty then. Not too many tactical timmies in Area 2 I guess! :p

Congratulations to Leatham, although he doesn't need me to say it ha.

I don't think you will see too many Tac Timmies shooting Area matches. Area 2's entry fee was $265 this year.

Honestly the only way to get a lot of Tac Timmies would be to make Carry Optics a no-comp Open Minor division. As many of the Tac Timmies are running guns that are still prohibited even under the new eased rules.

I don't qualify as 'many', but I'll be shooting Area 1.

Yes you are. And so am I. ;)

Loudmouth is the brand. Totally awesome. I kind of want some.

That seems REALLY expensive to me; is there anything other than that they can get away with charging that much that justifies the price?

Well, obviously they can get away with pricing it that way then. That really doesn't answer my question, though.

Obviously not in total number of stages, nor in the quality of the stages because the opinion I got from people who have shot it is that both are gone down.

It was a good, very technical match. There were no memory stages, no hidden targets and so on. However, technically, it was a challenging match with good stages. I did not shoot Nationals last year, so I can't compare but a quite a few people did and told me that this match was way more difficult. It was a more demanding match than any other major matches (Including Area matches) I have shot before for sure. The prize table was good too in my opinion.
I will definitely try to go there next year again

He also had Under Armour clits - red on the left and blue on the right (If I am not mistaken) to match his green PJ pants:).
Now you gotta come up with something more radical than the spongebob backpack to beat that.

I like the idea of Carry Optics, though I don't like carry optics guns: the dot moves, erasing a lot of the advantage of shooting fast with a dot...

Also, the new rules allow much more modification than before (http://uspsa.org/document_library/2016/Carry%20Optics%20Statement%20EDIT%20CT.PDF)

Minor scoring is a bitch... Right Gabe?

Someday that SpongeBob bag is going to fall apart. Then I won't know what to do. Probably find another little kids' backpack to use. I bet Japan has a disturbing one that I would like.

I think I would say that Minor scoring is just fine. What's wrong with the world is Major scoring.

One red and one blue cleat. Says after he wears one pair out, he switches sides with the remaining two cleats.

Serious question:

I hear tracking the dot on a slide mounted optic is tougher and a bit slower than using irons for a higher level shooter...so would a higher level shooter just win carry optics by shooting the backup irons through the sight?

Top of the page, it's not.
If I'd read "cleat" I wouldn't have asked...

I've read/heard that people shoot with the BUIS when that's faster, then switch to the red dot for shots where that gives you an advantage further out. Hoping someone with actual knowledge can help you out more...

According to the class boundaries for this USPSA Production classifier I shot two weeks ago, and for others I have looked at, you need to shoot a higher HF in Carry Optics to get the same percentage as you would shooting Production. Unless this is a start up glitch, HQ thinks CO is easier than iron sights. See example below where my Production HF nets a higher percentage than CO.

USPSA's classification system is chocked full of glitches. They're all over the place. It's hardly what I'd be using as a barometer for the actual respective difficulty, especially in a brand spanking new division. Admittedly, it'd be interesting to know how they come up with the numbers, but the organization has typically been anything but transparent about how classifiers are rated/scored/updated.

There's a lengthy discussion on one of Stoeger's podcasts joking about having a rule that states you HAVE to have an optic on the gun to shoot the division b/c otherwise it'd be getting won by an iron sighted gun. :D

Here is a link to a site where folks can compare hit factors in various divisions. Leaving aside some fixed par time standards, every HF scored classifier I checked, required a higher HF for CO. Folks should have a look.

1 of the main reasons I didn't want to shoot it. You might as well shoot open.

GJM

Looking at some HF examples, CO seems about 7-8 percent harder than Production, 4-5 percent easier than Limited, and way easier than Open.

You have shot waaaay more classifiers than me, but the few classifiers I have shot CO was a higher HF than limited, and very close to
Open.

I certainly haven't looked at each classifier in the data base, and as Taadski pointed out, there can be some funny stuff with classifiers. If you can find those you shot, and run them through the site I linked, I would be very curious as to what you find.

Classifiers were CO is higher than limited:

06-04
09-04
13-01
13-02
13-08
99-08

If you really wanna laugh look up 99-14.

And these are just examples I know of. I have the AZ app and use the website every match.
