Having said that, I would hate for that video to come back on him or one of his guys, in court, after shooting one of those criminals. This is 2016, after all. Right has nothing to do with it and perception is everything.

Sad but true. We have probably all seen some jury decisions where you just shake your head and wonder what the F. You could definitely spin it to a civil jury.

I've watched Captain Higgins' videos for over a year now. He is a straight talker and an example of what we need lots more of in American LE. I wished I had been able to work for him, or somebody like him during my LE career.

Family and friends of accused members of the "Gremlins gang" disapprove of things being said about their loved ones.

A meeting was held today in Abbeville to discuss Cpt. Clay Higgins' comments made in segment that aired on KATC last week.

Community activist Raymond Brown headed the meeting, and he said they did not leave with derogatory attacks planned on anyone. He feels Higgins did more harm than good with his Crime Stoppers video.

Brown said he plans to send a letter to the justice department and ask for an investigation.

"In honesty, the sheriff should fire him," Brown said about Higgins. "Or he should resign for what he said. He has damaged the criminal justice system."

Although the ACLU doesn't get it, I think Higgins message had some serious thought to it. For example, he said if the gang members don't like him, he's easy to find. A major problem in black neighborhoods is witnesses who won't come forward out of fear. By putting himself out in front, he put himself on their side.

Higgins also had community leaders in the video, so I wonder if the "community activist" who didn't make the cut doesn't just want his share of the limelight.

If I recall correctly, Capt. Higgins was making a very comfortable living in the car business and came to LE later in life because he wanted to serve.

I also think, when his boss retires captain Hagans should consider running for sheriff of Landry parish. Let's see what the people of Landry parish have to say.

Along those lines, what about a petition to the sheriff to bring him back? I understand he resigned, but a show a public support to demonstrate that resignation was unnecessary.
