Stopped by the range today and was very surprised to see .22 was being limited to 500 rounds. Keep in mind, in my area .22 has been very much available. This particular range has had skids of CCI MiniMags and standard velocity for some time now. I asked about the limits, and was informed that during the state of the industry address (not even sure if that is a real thing) at SHOT show the buyers were told a major shortage was coming. The counter guys did not have specifics, but mentioned ATK and one other manufacturer were stopping all production of .22 LR in order to retool and expand. Is there any truth to this? I don't feel they were blowing smoke, they seemed to genuinely believe what they were saying. They did mention the shortage would last into 2017. I walked out with exactly what I went in there for. Just curious if there is something to this.
