how hard is it to install a srt on a p226, or should I get an armorer in nova to do it?

Takes about 15-20 minutes to disassemble and put in the new sear and safety lever. A dab of grease is your friend when it comes to holding the ejector and safety lever in place when you are putting the sear spring and pin back in.

Do you never detail strip your frame to clean it?

I shot a 226 with the SRT installed today. Couldn't believe how short the rest actually was. I've got a buddy that's a Sig armorer and has some SRT's on hand, gonna get him to install one in my 226 Blackwater.

I could probably do it myself, but I suffer from excessive laziness. :p

I thought the Blackwater came with the SRT from the factory.

If it's supposed to, I got ripped off.

There's a huge difference between the 226 I shot today and mine. :(

That sucks. I still miss the 226 with trigger work I sold (though I don't regret it because the money went to a gun I actually carry).

On the plus side, I sold it to a buddy so I still get occasional visiting rights. :D

I shouldn't worry too much about the Sig I guess. After I got my G34, and then Gen4 G17's, it's just sat in the safe. I used it once to shoot Jason Falla's pistol standards in the last year and a half. That's it.

If you want something really sick, put an overtravel stock on an SRT gun. Todd's assessment was reset that short illegal in some countries.

I love the SRT SIG trigger...it's fairly possible that if Erin's West German 226 had had the SRT in it, it would still be my 226.

But I short-stroked it too many times, and she liked it, so I gave it to her.

Now I'm thinking about getting it SRT'd just because. I think Target Sports was offering it up for $150. Any chance of snagging one of those kits from your guy?

Both of mine were done by a local gunsmith. If you have an alloy frame, you have to use something fairly soft. On my P245, the overtravel stop is piece of nylon weed wacker rod drilled into back of the trigger. For my stainless frame gun, material was added by welding onto the back of the trigger. This is the stainless gun:

Bruce Gray also offers an internal overtravel stop as a $50 option.

How short? The reset on my non-SRT P226 race gun is 2mm.

Just relax your finger short. Measured in 1/1000's of an inch with a feeler gauge. I actually had the guy leave some extra room to tolearte mud, dust bunnies, etc.
