Yipes, that's a lot.

But, still not enough to make me part with my, with all original parts, G19s from the late 80s early 90s.

P.S.: are the first G19s gen 2 or gen 1? it would be nice to get the nomanclature down.

The first small batch of G19's requested by an agency were cut down G17's and considered Gen 1. Full production of regular G19's were Gen 2.

So cut down gen 1 G17s are essentially gen 1 G19s? I had no idea that had happened.

Generation 1 Glock 19 pistols are very, very rare. The reported number is something like twelve. The buyer is a well-heeled Glock collector who looked for an example for five years. He was prepared to pay considerably more to win the auction.

I have a very early example of the G19. I bought it second hand, but it was from a friend who bought it within the first year of being available.

I took it to the range on a "Glock Days" event, and the factory reps asked to look at it. When they broke it down, they were surprised to see the original parts inside. They replaced a bunch of the original parts for free. I guess I wasn't thinking like a collector at the time and I let them do it...

So, aside from these, when were the G19's available for US consumption? I have a buddy who has an old, unfired one.

Wait, so the slide was G17 length? Anyone have a picture of one? A quick Google didn't turn up anything looking like what I am imagining.

I am not a Glock expert, but it is my understanding that the only Gen 1 Glock 19 pistols were made for a single contract's initial shipment. Later guns for the same contract were the first of the Gen 2 Glock 19 pistols.

Hmm...so they took a G17 frame, cut the grip up at the bottom, then cut the dust cover in closer, and slapped a G19-length slide on?
