55 grains of one of the 4350 variants in any case with any primer and a good 180. If your rifle doesn't shoot this load well, then something is wrong with it. Same goes for 57/4350 and a good 165.

Looking for subsonic 300 Blackout loads. Looking for good low cost components to build ammo for shooting steel 10-100 yards. Subsonic 300 Blackout should be like shooting 45ACP 230gr+P as far as safety and target damage. Right?

There will be a little more damage due to the pointed projectiles, but that shouldn't matter to steel.

A lot depends on your barrel length. I use Leatherhead 220s (http://leatherheadbullets.com/30-cal-220-grn-rn-blackout-100-ct/) at 2.12 COAL and 9.9gr of 1680, however that's less powder than many others as my .300Blk is an 11.5" barrel.

What dies do you use? Do you have a special die to expand the casemouth? Do you have to crimp after seating the bullets? I have used carbide expander balls in rifle dies and they do reduce effort/stress on the person and the shell case. I recommend carbide expander balls bottleneck shell cases.

I am seeing that powder become available from online vendors (http://www.brownells.com/reloading/powder/rifle-powder/accurate-2230-powders-prod39467.aspx) again.

Yes, and I now have plenty in my stockroom! AA2230 is by far my favorite 5.56 55gr powder.

My pet M2 Ball clone load:

Hornady 150gr FMJBT
46.5gr IMR 4064
Misc cases full-length resized
Fed 210 primer
3.185" COAL

Pushes that 150gr pill right about 2700fps, and my particular M1 shoots it about 3.5MOA with my shitty right eye.

My 9.3x62mm 'cheap' practice load:

Prvi Partizan 285gr JSP
59.5gr Big Game
Priv cases (neck sized after firing)
WLRM primers

3.300" COAL
No crimp

Shoots a legit 1MOA out of my Ruger African. I used this load for my pre-safari practice sessions and the local safari rifle matches.
Note that I have no idea if the pressure is suitable for older small-ring Mauser designs; this is purely for modern Rugers.

Just out of curiosity, how does it compare to H335? That's been my go to for the 55 FMJ's since I started playing around with the .223/5.56. Thanks.

Grendel?

Yes, and the velocity is wrong. Must have been drunkposting again.

6.5 Grendel: 123 SMK over 28.3 XBR at 2350fps (16” barrel). Stable transonic. I've hit steel fairly consistently at 1150yds with this setup.

Dave

I've shot several 8 pounders worth of 2230 behind 55 FMJs, about 15 years ago so it's hard for me to remember, but it performed just as well as H335 from what I recall. A few years later I acquired a whole bunch of surplus SMP 735 and have been shooting that.

The best accuracy I have ever seen from 55 FMJBT has been with H4895 but that's not worth putting behind a bullet that will only shoot 1-2 MOA.

My buddy says it's pretty much the same. I haven't used H335.

.243 Winchester deer load
36gr IMR 4064
100gr Hornady Interlock BTSP
~2900 FPS

This load is sub-MOA from my rifle (22” Savage). It is hotter than the Hornady book max, but 2gr less than max in a couple other books.

It will cleanly take deer at 300yds.
