What has worked well for me:

9mm: (All loads shot through a Walther P99c; barrel is 3.5" with traditional rifling - if you've got a longer barrel, you may be able to get similar velocity with less powder)

124 grain Berry's plated round nose over 5.0 grains of Unique, 1.15 OAL, ~130 PF.
124 grain Montana Gold JHP over 4.7 grains of Unique, 1.075 OAL, ~130 PF.
124 grain Montana Gold JHP over 4.1 grains of VV N320, 1.075 OAL, ~128-129 PF.
115 grain Hornady XTP over 5.4 grains of Unique, 1.08 OAL, never chronoed, but was nice and accurate, no pressure signs.

The reason the JHP and XTP loads are so much shorter in OAL is that my P99c has a fairly short chamber, and in order to pass the "plunk" test, they had to be shorter. If you're loading for a Glock or similar, you can probably go longer with those bullets.

44 Mag
10 grains of Unique under a good cast 240-grain SWC.

45 Colt
10 grains of Unique under a good cast 250-grain SWC.

Either should get 1,000-1,100 fps, be powerful enough for deer, and be accurate enough for rabbits. Recoil is fairly mild, too.

Make sure you list your cartridge length. Size matters. ;)

This is the Sams Custom Gun load for the 9x19. In my Sams 1911, it shoots into less than one inch for ten shots from the Ransom rest at the fifty-yard line.

1) 115-grain Hornady XTP
2) 4.8 grains of N-340
3) Winchester or Starline brass
4) Remington #5-1/2 small pistol primer
5) OAL is 1.160" in 1911s and 1.120" (no crimp) in Beretta 92-series guns. I load 9x19 long for 1911 pistols to aid in feeding. Perhaps too long based on some feedback from WCR.

Velocity is about 1100 fps.

Missouri Bullet Co. makes a 125 LSWC for 9mm. Loaded at 1.125" over 4.0 grains of titegroup it does about 1100 out of a 4.25" barrel, doesn't seem to lead badly, and groups better than I can shoot out of several guns. As a longtime .45 guy, I take irrational pleasure in crisp holes.

From Ross Seyfried back in 1981. He said he used this load and 2 identical Pachmayr 1911s for all of his 1911 IPSC work.
.45 ACP, 5.7gr WW 231, 230 gr bullet.
I ran 100,000+ of these with various cases, LP primers (mainly WW and CCI) and both lead and jacketed bullets. Ran fine in 1911, GL21, GL30, Sig 220.

230Gr FMJ atop 5 gr of Bullseye at 1.250-1.260 is a classic hardball duplication load. I like it a lot.

Here's a nice middling power 10mm load.

Starline Brass
180 Grain Hornady HAP or XTP
CCI 300 Large Pistol Primers
9.0 Grains of Hodgdon Longshot
COAL 1.260"

Average Velocity of 1208 FPS from my stock G20G4. ES 28 SD 10.8

A couple of good 115 grain 9mm loads that shoot sub 1.5" in several guns:
4.5 gr Bullseye with Nosler or Montana Gold JHP at 1.08 to 1.09 oal, Win primers.
6.1 gr WSF with Montana Gold JHP, same oal and primers as above.

Some good 147 grain 9mm loads, also running 1.5" or better in multiple guns:
4.0 gr WSF or 4.9 gr AA#5 with Hornady FMJ RN or Zero FMJ at 1.150, Win primers
3.3 gr Vihtavouri N320 with Bayou coated 147 at 1.135, Win primers

My two favorite .40 S&W loads:
4.4 grains Titegroup with a Zero or Montana Gold 180 gr JHP, Win primer at 1.125 to 1.135 oal. Hornady HAP has also shot well with this load. Velocity runs about 925 to 950 fps out of a Glock 35.

5.4 grains of Silhouette with a Speer 180 TMJ (I was using pulls) and Win primers. OAL at 1.130. This one shoots real well, also works with Zero 180 JHP. This a light load (minor power factor) with velocity about 825 fps out of my Glock 23. I haven't met a Glock .40 that didn't like this load.

LL - I have an extensive spreadsheet of pistol loads. It has hundreds of loads through dozens of guns. If you want it, I can send it over.

I've been satisfied with Winchester Super Field (WSF) as a powder and have standardized on the following load:

124gr Montana Gold bullet
5.0gr WSF
CCI small pistol primer (have used them all)
OAL of 1.14"

This has functioned reliably in every gun I've owned and should be good for about 1075fps out of a G19 barrel if I had to guess.

Nice mid range .44 Magnum load

I’ve been testing a bunch of different low end to mid range .44 mag loads. One managed to shoot the best groups out of three different S&W revolvers, a 4” 29-2, a 5” 629-3 and a 4” 629-5. The load is 6.4 grains of Red Dot with an SNS Casting 240 grain coated SWC. Primer was Win LP, OAL of 1.60. Benchrested 20 yard groups were 1.25” to 1.625”. Recoil is mild, with velocity estimated to be in the 900 fps range. Shot about 50 rounds with this bullet out of each revolver, no leading and quick cleanup with all three guns.

My favorite factory duplication practice load for my 640 Pro 357 is: 140 Hornady XTP, 9.0 Power Pistol and a 357 case and a standard small pistol with a COAL of 1.55 inches.
This load over a chrono does 1067 fps at 10 feet from the muzzle. It does 1104 from my SP 101 3.06 357 from the same distance.

This load approximates the Gold Dot 357 SB load and is taken from Speer Manual #14.

The load is accurate, easy to get back on target, shoots to POA and doesn't appear to punish the gun. Lots of muzzle flash but it is a short barreled magnum.

I started with CFE powder and then finally went with TiteGroup powder. This is what I ended up with:

The CFE for me was not as good as the titegroup powder I reloaded with this time for my 45. My EDC is the Colt Combat Commander 4.25" barrel. Formula for my Best load to date: Everglades 230 gn FMJ round nose, 4.2 gn of TiteGroup, COL of 1.248, Primers Fed or Win large (both worked ok, but I prefer the Federal). I saw no difference in the various brass that I had. I did a slow load on my Dillon Press to verify everything (powder and seatings of primer and bullet and tolerances) on EACH AND EVERY round. This was so good for my specific EDC, I doubt I will change my formula.

Difference in CFE and Titegroup Powder was about 2" for titegroup vs 6" for CFE groupings at 25 yds. My previous FMJ round nose was seated at 1.265 and used CFE of various volumes of between 6.0gn to 6.8gn and I could never achieve even close to what my current formula gives. Also the reduction in kick is very noticeable, (as President Trump says: Bigley).

I've shot this 45 ACP load since the mid-1990s. It was intended to duplicate the performance of JMBrowning's original recipe for the cartridge, a 200g bullet @ 900 fps from a 5" barrel. I loaded the H&G #68 SWC over 6g of 231. Bullet was seated to give optimum feeding and reliability. I may have measured it way back when but I've long forgotten. With this load I put something over 20,000 rounds through a lightly customized Government Model, then duplicated the same record through a 3rd G21 with a Bar-Sto barrel.

A blood test showing higher than normal levels of lead in my system put an end to the cast bullets. I switched to Berry's plated 200g RS and found by chronographing I had to bump the powder up to 6.2g. This coincided with a new 8# jug of 231 so it might have been as much the new batch of powder as the plated bullets that required another .2g to get 900 fps. And yes I chronographed it from a Government Model, not from the G21. And, the Berry's bullet and load works just dandy in Moonclips through a 45 ACP Mountain Gun and a 4" 325 PD.

Since finding myself old and broken (lol) I don't shoot near as much as I used to but still have used up a couple sleeves of WLPs loading these plated rounds. If I ever shoot up my supply of the Berry's RS I'll probably switch to their HP offering, just to make them look more serious. (smile)

I should hope so, you have cut the velocity by 100 - 200 fps.

Stephan A Camp 9mm +P load

124gr Hornady XTP
6.0 Grains Unique

I have shot these in most all my 9mm's and they have worked great.

10mm revolver:
Accurate .40-224H cast (http://www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=40-224H) sized .402.
15 grains IMR 4227
WLP primer.

This gives 970-980 fps from my 4” GP100 and averages 2.5” 5-shot groups at 50 yards from a sandbagged bench rest.

Max is 16 grains, but 15 gave the best accuracy.

Thanks to Outpost75 for sharing this combination.

My favorite training load in 9mm is:

124 gr Precision Delta JHP
4.9 gr VV N340
1.085" - 1.090" OAL
CCI SP Primer
Mixed brass

Good for about 1,080 - 1,110 fps from a 4.5" barrel and will hold <2" 10-round groups at 25 yards. Recoil is soft.

POI is sim-to 124 gr Gold Dots.

I’ve been loading ”the” stereotypical jacketed .45 load for my metallic sight bullseye guns and discovered recently that it functions just fine through a couple of standard-sprung 1911s.

Zero 185gr JHP (the conical one)
4.5gr Bullseye
Mixed LP brass
Rem or Win LPP
Nominal COAL: 1.205”
Crimp: 0.469-0.470”

Velocity is running high 700s and it produces tiny groups.

JRV

I loaded up a batch of a gentle softball load for plinking recently.

Berry's 230gr plated RN
3.8gr Clays
Mixed brass
Rem LPP
1.260" COAL
0.471" crimp

Feeds in all my stock sprung 1911s, ejects cases about 5 feet to the right, and recoils more like a 147gr 9mm load than a hardball .45.

It's plated, so it's not going to give you X-ring results, but it's good enough for 10-ring at 25.

I haven't begun loading it yet, but I will be doing a run with the same projectiles and specs except I will be loading 7.0gr of BE-86 and using Win LPPs. So, instead of a low-to-mid 700s for velocity downrange... should be more like low-to-mid 900s. Might be fun for bowling pins.

Found a decent mid-range defensive load with XTPs that my TRP enjoys:

200gr Hornady XTP
7.0gr BE-86
1.230” COAL
0.469” crimp
Starline brass
Win LPP

112367

I use a 6 o’clock hold for consistency when load testing. This load shoots to POA, right on top of the front sight.

This is the load I’ve worked up to emulate the soft recoil of Federal 150 gr Syntech, with better precision and less than half the cost.
I use in Beretta 92s, but it’s been reliable and accurate in a USPc9 and a G19.5, as well as my CX-4 carbine.
It does NOT have enough energy to run a Glock 26.5.

9mm load to make IDPA PF
147 gr X-Treme RN plated
3.5 gr HP-38
1.105COAL
WSP primer (also good with Federal Match and GINEX)

In order to make SSP PF with 147 gr bullet, needs to be 851+

Chrono’d in Mar 2023 from a 4.7” barrel:
Avg: 880 fps
Low: 860
High: 906
