I have a good friend who is active duty military. He is competent with a handgun, and has excellent judgment. He is looking for some quality handgun instruction in the San Antonio, TX area. He has been trained and qualified with the USAF multiple times over the years, but he wants something more geared toward concealed carry. He isn't ready for a two day class (I already mentioned Jeff Gonzalez and Paul Howe), and wants something that covers basic gun handling and marksmanship, as well as addresses the techniques of carrying concealed. Some of the when to shoot / when not to shoot would be great also.

I have no contacts in that part of the country so I'm hoping y'all can offer up some vetted instructors. Thanks in advance!

One of our very own here at pf. Based in Austin but does classes.

I'm 99% sure I'll be at the 2/20 class.

If he's a member here have him PM me and I'm sure us local guys can get together for some range time.

Locally Kelly D Venden at Criterion Tactical is highly recommended. I've taken a 1 day class with him.

Second choice would be KR training in Austin about an hour away.

Third choice would be Lone star handgun but I would only recommend their class if the class is taught by the owner Josh Felker - the quality of their other instructors variehttp://www.lonestarhandgun.com

As Skyline1 noted PF member Dr. No also does training locally but his schedule is somewhat limited due to other commitments. I'll be at the Sat Feb 20 class as well. http://www.sheepdogsolutions.com/training/foundation-pistol-sat-feb-20-2016/

PS - both Criterion Tactical and Dr. No/. Sheep Dog Solutions offer Mil / LE discounts,

I'm in for the Sheepdog class. I can also recommend KRtraining, whom I know quite well.

There is also: http://www.sensibleselfdefense.com/default.asp. I haven't trained with Eric but he shoots in the IDPA group, we talk about and seems a decent sort.
