I've decided to spend some serious time with my VP9 and I need a couple of good single mag pouches. From looking at a couple of different websites for Kydex holster makers online, it seems that carriers for the M&P or USP Compact may work.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Okie John

USP Compact / P2000 carriers will work. The P30/VP9 magazine is simply a longer USPC/P2000 mag.

Fun fact - P30 / VP mags will work in corresponding USPC/P2000 / P2000sk's.

I use Kytex magazine carriers with a number of different pistol makes, to include the VP9. Very reasonable prices too.

Here's a thread on Kytex mag pouches? (https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?4979-Kytex-mag-pouches)- a few years old but still relevant.

I use Custom Carry Concepts BMC (Basic Mag Carrier) they are $25.25 each I have had them for 6 years and used them for training, edc, and competition they perform flawlessly. Just email Rich but if I rember correctly for my P2sk I ordered the Glock 9mm ones they fit perfectly. http://www.customcarryconcepts.com/Basic-Mag-Carrier_p_18.html

For OWB, I like JM Custom (http://www.jmcustomkydex.com/p/SPMP.html). IWB, TT Gunleather (http://www.mcssl.com/store/a9856d0dead4463ea8f07338d4d909/catalog/product/f795567924b146c5b13510f636cb3ec2) (ordered without the sweatguard).

I have 2 each of these (Walther P99 version), and use all 4. A CCC BMC is what rides on my belt for daily carry; the second BMC and the pair of Kytex pouches only get used for USPSA. While the Kytex ones are nice enough, I think the CCCs are worth the extra money. They feel more solidly constructed, and the solid loops mean they're not coming off of your belt, whereas I've accidentally pulled the Kytex pouches off of my belt before while going for a reload in competition. *Probably* I just didn't have the pouch properly on my belt, and it's usually not a problem, but it's impossible to screw that up with the solid loop BMCs, and it sure is weird to have to shuck a mag carrier off of your mag before you can complete your reload.

YMMV, of course, but I tend to think the BMCs are the better product, and I trust them more.

Do you say this because you have M&P or USP Compact pouches already and want to use them with your VP9 mags, or because you don't see VP9 mags listed on a makers website?

If the latter, Dale Fricke shows their mag pouches available for the VP 9

CCC BMC works great for my P2000 mags.

I really like the Gebhard Solutions mag carriers. They are very low profile. You do have to send Uli a mag for him to make the carrier but his turn around is about one week.

For my VP40 I usually use The Wilderness' vertical magazine pouch ( single or double ) , or Tactical Tailor's Magna single or dual magazine pouches.

Mine work well with M&P mags, and P2000 as well as the p30/VP9 mag. I have used it for CCW and also will use it for USPSA.

I've read the mag pouches made from a single piece of Kydex will break after awhile from the flexing of the belt clip going over the belt. Has anyone experienced this?

My BMCs are fine after several years of getting compressed between my body and car seats, smacked into stuff, leaned on, etc. My Kytex mag carriers don't get used as often or as hard, so I can't really speak to their durability.

Especially with an open attachment. The Kytex ones are cheap enough to buy 4 at a time and delegate each one for different tasks.

The BMC is closed and awesome. Hard to go wrong there, they don't have the flexing issues that break others.

My first Kytex mag carrier lasted me about 16 months, with me taking it on and off my belt almost daily; my second one hasn't died yet, and I have a third sitting the drawer for when this second one gives up the ghost. They're cheap, low profile, and I like the easy on-off of the clip. I have had issues with the carrier coming out with the magazine, which makes for a shit reload, but this has only occurred in classes where I was wearing a different belt than my EDC belt and in a different position (due to carrying 2 magazines instead of 1 like my EDC set-up), so I'm not too worried about it.

I probably own a dozen of the Kytex mag carriers for several different pistol designs (Glock, Beretta, HK, 1911) and haven't broken one yet. Most of my shooting group uses Kytex mag carriers (we had a group buy of Glock carriers a few years back) and to my knowledge no one else has broken one. Not saying they're unbreakable (I've certainly broken kydex gear before and have no illusions about their durability); I just haven't managed to do it yet. As noted above, they're cheap enough to have spares on hand. Personally, I find the ability to remove the magazine carrier without unthreading my belt to be of enough benefit to accept the tradeoff in long term durability.

I've broken a mag carrier and a 6P carrier. Both times were from plopping down in a chair with armrests.
