Did anyone see or get to handle the PD10 prototype at Shot? If so, what were your thoughts?

I like that it's G19 size single stack, decent sights/mags, and flat trigger, I just don't have a lot of confidence in Pincus building a mechanically accurate gun with his toolbagish critical dynamic incident type training. Could be wrong.

I am curious as well. Hopefully Rob's role is just limited to marketing as he does a good job at that, too good actually.

I wonder if the finish is capable of holding up to being rage thrown across gravel?

I made a special trip down to the Eagle Imports/Bersa booth just to check it out (not sure the story behind why it was at that particular booth). The prototype is still pretty crude. The frame was machined from aluminum while the final product will be polymer, so it was difficult to get a feel for what the final product will be like. The trigger was also non-functional on the floor sample, so I couldn't try that either. The ergonomics seem nice enough. The grip is longer than I expected (I think the G19 is at least 1/2" shorter), but I guess it has to be in order to accommodate the 10-round 9mm 1911 magazines they're using. I saw Pincus later on that day and very briefly talked to him about it. He said they were pretty much set on using the 1911 mags from the beginning, mostly due to the expense and additional development time required to design their own magazine.

A couple of pics below -- one with my hand for scale (I have medium-small hands with long fingers).

Looks long (phrasing)!!!

I'm going to pick one up though either way. $500 with good sights and mags is decent. I just really hope solid holsters will be available. Any idea of release date?

Not sure, but he said they'll be pushing hard at the NRA show in May. I don't know whether that means they intend to have the final product ready to ship by then or just start marketing and taking orders.

Also forgot to mention... I believe it takes M&P front sights and Glock rear sights.

I think it looks like the defective child of a Sigma and an XD.

Lol wut? Why not one or the other? I bet this thing will be a massive enough failure to make folks on the internet forget about the Remington R51.

Because striker-fired is the new hotness and hammers are old and busted, grandpa. (At least I think that's the sales pitch.)

And that about covers it… beautifully. Pincus' involvement is just… extra.

Because people who can't shoot like to poo-poo TDA handguns and flock towards the Flava' of the Week, one hit wonder SFA's.

I'm sorry- I've just heard that "DA/SA guns are too damn hard to shoot" one too many times during this blizzard.

Because 9mm 1911 magazines are a good base to build a reliable pistol around.... ? Wait what?

Sorry, but this one question has been boiling within me for a while now:

If you make it through a CFS course with this gun, does Rob Pincus cover the cost of ammo and tuition?

Lol solid point.

At best, mags will be a limiting factor.

I really like the idea of a compact size single stack... just not one made by Rob Pincus

So the Sig P239...

Is there an actual noticeable difference between this and a Glock 19 in grip width? Sig shows 1.2" for the 239, whereas the G19 is 1.18

I returned my Caracals and sold my Steyr L9 and went with CZ 75s. Jeeze, I messed up :(

I laughed when I read the quoted post as it is so, so true. If I was going to design a pistol around an existing single-stack 9x19 magazine, the 9x19 1911 magazine would not even enter the thought process. Too many variations with too many non-standard dimensions made by too many companies.

Been better off designing around the S&W 3906 or 3913 magazines Or the SIG P220 magazine. Or the SIG P225 magazine. Or the Walther P5 magazine. Or the HK P7 magazine. Or the Beretta 92-series single-stack Type M magazines. Yeah, some of those are hard to find and are expensive, but they all work. And Mec-Gar can make many of them.

With that kind of design compromise to start the project, my expectations are very, very low.

You are all just a bunch of reliability bigots.

We need to redefine society's definition of "reliability" to make it more inclusive and equitable.

OK.

I'm totally kidding. I'm going to go play with my HK now...

I hope this new gun will work, but will not be an early adopter.

Here's how I see it. You've got a non-functional prototype at SHOT where part of the deal is them trolling it for $. If Pincus and Company get it wheels up, you'll have a semi-functional polymer production pistol. Of course you could wander over to Colt and buy a LW 9mm Commander if you want to tinker with 1911 mags, or just fast forward and buy a SIG225, 239, G43...

If I was king, and chose to assemble a functional gun, I would start with a P30 mag. I would then place it in a P30.

Why is this pistol on anyone's radar?

I really like my Kimber Aegis 9mm and checkmate mags work well with it. I'll stick with that.

Because nobody^h^h^h^h^h^hseveral companies have gone broke overestimating the number of people who need special snowflake hipster pistols. Got an AIWB holster for a 10mm Megastar?

Just ruminating here but if the Avidity was being shown off in the Eagle/Bersa booth at SHOT, why not just team up and use the Bersa BP9CC as your base and make a few tweaks to increase durability and reliability?
I've heard the BP9CC is actually a decent pistol with a few cheap parts in critical places holding it back (to hit the Bersa price point). You could improve those parts and raise the price point to match and have a shot at a good pistol.
Think Nissan - Acura type relationship.

Nahhh, screw that. Build a whole new gun from the ground up based on 9mm 1911 magazines, that's the ticket!
