I'm about to start a new job where I will be unable to carry during the day. While less than ideal, locking my firearm in the car is obviously better than being disarmed for the entirety of my commute. (And Georgia law specifically allows for firearms locked in non-secure employer parking lots).

Any suggestions on the best way to secure the weapon in the car? My car (a 1995 Honda Civic) doesn't have any lockable compartments from the factory, so I'll likely be looking at adding some sort of mini-safe to the car.

I have one of these (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/default.aspx?productNumber=274442). It comes with a lanyard that can be secured around a seat support.

I doubt that it would stop a determined thief. I only use it when I have to go to the post office.

epete types quicker than I...

A locker such as this one will come with cable to secure it under a vehicle seat:

Anyone interested in taking it could easily cut the cable or pry open the locker; keep your doors locked and valuables out of view. Said locker has worked well for me in a similar situation with a slightly older Honda, however if you are in a high crime area you may desire something more robust.
