Jody H,

After reading so much about the HK LEM I managed to finagle one out of Santa... HK P2000sk V2 in 9mm. Needless to say, the gun is awesomeness. It will be out later today to run thru some paces. Much easier to shoot/stage trigger than my Sig P250.

I also received a large bag of dark black Coal from Santa. I guess he intends for me to grille all next year... Thoughtful of him.

Hope everyone is having a peaceful Christmas / Holiday weekend.

Cheers

This thing could be the official PF watch. Has compass and altimeter, since the Taco does not. Lightweight, and the right color. Tom should get us a quantity deal on them. Only problem is when I dry fire, the orange attracts my eyes like a LEM hammer grabs Darryl.

Nice kids watch. I like my adult timepiece. Plus, I am used to using the second hand on the Rolex as a shot timer for Hk owners.

To me from me....found a great deal on an early 1930's S&W 38/44 Outdoorsman in fantastic condition,
Pelican 85 because I could not find a Yeti110 to save my life. Turns out the wheels are a very good thing.

From others...cigars, got a couple great bolo ties.....so I don't have to wear a real tie, a drone, and socks.

Basically, all good.

It has been a tradition with my step-brother, -sister, and -mother that they put together a puzzle over the course of Christmas day. They completed this one late into yesterday evening (the kids are adults now, and alcohol was involved).

This morning, before I left to go back home, I helped install a back-up sight on my father's AR, when my step-mother just happened to sit down at the table. This photo is my Christmas gift to myself.

My wife and I stay low key with gifts at Christmas, given everyone else we buy for (kids, extended family, etc...)

Despite our small scale, she usually has a much harder time buying for me than I do her and this year was even more of a challenge :) I had finally decided which side of the "buy vs build" fence I was on for my first AR-15 and was really only interested in AR parts for me - I hadn't even done enough research just yet to even put together a list for her. Instead of a gift card or cash, she gave me this memorable little gem:

5148

ps - we have 5 cats and the orange one is not even my favorite - it's hers ;-)

pps - She got noise-cancelling bluetooth headphones so she can study in peace at the kitchen table... and stop yelling at the rest of us for being too loud :)

Uhh - my sister gave the wife and I some nerf guns. My wife got a new apartment three-times the size of our current one (joy of joys I now have to move during a Chicago winter...But bonus, more space!). I got the wife a new watch, a vintage double-boiler (she'll love it), and new brakes on her car.

And then Santa showed up early and I brought home something for myself.

1971 Ford F100 short-wide-bed, small block V8, automatic. The previous owner had been "restoring it" for his son, son decided he didn't want it. The owner and was knee-deep in wiring it and in over his head. I got a good deal, brought it home and I've spent the last six days finishing the wiring. It now runs, drives, the glass is in it, everything except a couple of dash lights works. I drove it around the neighborhood this afternoon, still needs some tuning and I think it will need some transmission work. But this guy is happy.

My dad sent me some steaks from one of the online places which wound up being pretty solid. The usual odds and ends gift cards and that were also had.

My favorite thing to give was an aluminum print of my dad and I on the Tail of the Dragon earlier this year. I used Adoramapix and it turned out better than I ever imagined. Gonna get some more prints for the house and will likely gift more prints as well.

Some time in a DeHavilland Beaver, on floats. I love them and I'm very excited.

I am more interested in giving than receiving though and I went a little overboard this year...I paid for about ten hours of ink time with my wife's favourite artist, and I bought her an almost literal raft of clothing. The funny thing is that I'm almost disturbingly good at predicting fit of even the most specific items - like shoes even - and almost nothing has to be altered or exchanged. So my wife ended up spending hours just trying on stuff and there's probably still half a dozen dresses plus a pile of smaller stuff she hasn't even gotten to.

I know all of her favourite brands so it's actually easier than you'd think. But still it was pretty jaw-dropping for her. I knew she wanted a bunch of new stuff in her wardrobe though and she'd never spend that kind of money on herself. And I had a good year, so I decided that I'd spend a lot of my available cash giving her the experience of suddenly being able to have pretty much whatever she wanted.

Yeah, that happened. Palmetto shipped it on time and everything. Looking for a good powder measure now and gathering supplies.

For comparison, these are $249 at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007ZZO5D6/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B007ZZO5D6&linkCode=as2&tag=ratio07-20) right now. (told ya to jump on it!)

I pulled the handle on a co-worker's 650 about 5 or 6 years ago and that's all it took. I jumped in head first. Reloading has been absolutely the best investment I've made in my shooting.

Same here although I cheaped out and didn't get the primer or case feeder. You'll be reloading way faster than me but either way it's a great money saver (at least for me blasting 45 by the thousands).

That RCBS single stage looks great though. If I noticed it at the time I would have gone for it, it'd be perfect for low volume odds and ends.

Given my budget for components I'm not sure as of yet that a single stage or manual progressive would be a bad fit for me :)

I'm loading 1000 rounds (124 grain plated) for about $125 with current prices.

That's really something I should learn how to do and then start doing. I got lots (or a couple) of 300BLK guns that need feeding.

If you can make a cake from the instructions on the back of the box, you can reload. Especially if you just want to crank out some target ammo, it's really really easy. Like anything else, as you get into the finer points it gets progressively more involved.

Yeah, reloading is so simple Canadians can do it. For bulk pistol ammo you ALMOST can't screw up.

Unless you discover that you stripped a tiny stamped nut on the powder measure at some point while loading 500 rounds of 10mm.

The night before AFHF.

But other than that it's pretty simple. I'm actually surprised when I meet shooters that aren't reloaders. Maybe I'm just cheap, though.

Probably not as surprised as I am when I meet Canadians that aren't cheap.

That's not just surprising, it's full-on shocking.

I knew there was a reason my press is languishing in the garage, sitting on the hood of my roomie's MGB (which is sitting on four flat tires. That little corner of the garage is like a Sargasso of somedays.)

My wife got me an ICEdot crash sensor for when I go off biking by myself. It mounts on my helmet, and if I whack my head hard enough it sends a Bluetooth signal to my phone, which then calls my wife and tells her where I've crashed. Seems like a reasonable precaution because some of the places I ride don't see much traffic.

That's cool.
All I have is one of those "return to sender (http://www.roadid.com/)" bracelets.

We use one of these with our bird dog, but don't see why it wouldn't work on you:

From my wife, HK USP 45 Tactical LE 3 mags Tritium sights, Ambi safety from HK USA, 15 12round Mags from CDNN, GG&G light mount.
GJM got me to look at these as a woods gun. 45acp/.45Super. My hands are big, bony so this fit well.
Still carrying P30 LEM9mm.

This is the first I've heard of these. My wife cycles around 700km a month and I sometimes worry...this could be the solution.
