This feels like an "open carry activist" looking for a lawsuit to me, thoughts?

Fort Smith Police were called to Central Mall by mall security to escort a couple from the premises on Saturday (Dec. 19).

That couple was Alan and Daphne Crawford, who were dressed in a thobe and a hajab.

According to the police report, officers were called because people were concerned about the couple's action.

"I had two unknown subjects come up to me and advise me that a male subject wearing a thobe was video recording everyone in the mall and he was video-taping the entrances of several stores," stated officer Anthony Cox in the police report. All that deflection leads me to be wary of these folks. DERPS? Likely.
More serious than that? I'd like to know the real motivation for recording and evading direct answers.

It's a shame a couple of dozen people in that Mall didn't openly and brazenly return the favor by snapping some pictures of them.

They are going to go after money, and this is complete bullshit. Most malls ban any recording without getting permission first. I've seen the local mall throw the local news media off the property, and it ain't because they were Muslim.

"We're going to prove Islamophobia exists!"

According to the {police} report, mall security told Crawford he was not allowed to record video in the mall according to mall policy.

People who were in the mall took pictures as Crawford, his wife and son were escorted from the property. Those pictures, along with several other posts about the incident, were shared on Facebook more than 2,000 times. The posts are worded with phrases like "terrorist threat on the mall" and "Muslims have been scoping the layout of the mall." Police have not confirmed any threats and the Crawfords are speaking out about what people are saying about them. Alan Crawford said a Fort Smith police officer approached him and asked for his drivers license.

With the current obsession of taking pictures and videoing everything, I'm surprised more people don't think to get pictures in questionable circumstances.

Sees flaky person on porch looking in window, opens door, "Click" of camera phone,..."Can I help you?" Would be much better than the vague descriptions that's often all that's available of shady characters or outright suspects.

Cultural and generation differences? And sometimes, even under the best of circumstances, you just don't get the shot. For example, last weekend, I had some guys in our impound yard who by a freakish set of circumstances were able to get into the trunk of their Ford Taurus, but not the passenger compartment. In the end, they figured out that the easiest way to get into the car with minimal damage was to go through the backseat, The larger guy pushed the cushion forward while the smaller one did this awesome human ferret thing that was total ninja. Seeing what was about to happen, I suggested to the girl who drove them to use her phone to capture the stunt on video. She was positioned so that she did not even have to get out of her car and just had to point the phone and record. Well, she got the point part right...

FWIW, I think the whole Muslim mall video thing is a hoax. Couple of left wing attention whores creating an opportunity to whitesplain Islamaphobia.
