Merry Christmas dudes!

I found a few blank 8.5x11 sheets in my target bag today so I thought I would send the membership here a holiday card with a smiley face on it.

I thought it would be fun to see if anyone could beat my time and distance, and maybe make a better smiley face. Full disclosure: I tried this at 7 yards and my target looked like I used my 870 on it. My time, distance and gear are posted below.

Loose rules: Draw and shoot ten rounds on an 8.5x11 and try to make a smiley face. Record your time and list your gear.

Beretta 92D Centurion, JMCK AIWB, under a knit shirt.
5 yards: 14.66 seconds.

Very cool! Merry Xmas to you also!

I could do this, but it'd have to be...1 yd.

Not sure thats really within the rules. :)

You can do it at whatever distance you like. This is as much an artistic endeavour as it is a skill based drill, so you get to do it your way! LOL!

Thanks Tom. Seriously, this is the best forum on the net!

How many official entries?

If just 1 could it be 1 per platform? Like pistol rifle shotgun?

Brings to my mind the scene from Lethal Weapon (https://youtu.be/HquFyRcQHGQ). One of my favorite Christmas Movies, after Die Hard of course.

Well, I 'could' use more 3 yd work this week...

Ok, I'll see if I can squeeze in a quick trip to the range Tuesday...

I've been waiting for Mr. White to show up in this thread.

His submission would probably be done at 25 yards in 2.9 seconds and look like the Mona Lisa.:p

He should get his likes cut back, he got a head start. It's not fair, this is 2015, everything must be fair.

He lives in Canada, isn't that enough of a disadvantage?

.

I had no idea, very sorry clobb. I just liked his photo to show my sincerest apologies were in order

Kidding, of course. I love Canada. It's a nice place to visit (especially the western part).

Distance: 3 feet.
Gun: S&W 442 with wadcutters.
Draw: from hip pocket
Time: I dunno, I forgot to time it. :) I had to reload too.
Also I only fired 8 shots. ;)

Merry Christmas. :)

PS: wadcutters don't leave much powder burn at 3'.

Sorry Tom, no time for reenactments of movies right now.

My smiley face looks like it is sticking its tongue out.

I'm not feeling 100% today, but if I get up feeling like anywhere near 75%, I'll try to drag my arse out to the range and fire up a smiley. What distance Mr_White??

Tom, an undertaking as weighty as a reenactment has to be truly inspired to be worthy. Someday.

Clobbersauras and BaiHu , thank you and 7 yards.

Damn, SMH. One day, when I grow up, I'll get my FAST down to the 5.88 that you shot 10 rounds to make a smiley face with a tongue sticking out.....I have a dream!

I have a little more time to post about this now.

I know this is just a fun little thread, but Lethal Weapon movies aside, it's actually a very hard task to complete! As I said in my original post, I tried this at 7 yards and it looked like I used a shotgun. My second attempt was the photo in my original post, but at 5 yards and almost 15 seconds. The eyes and nose are fairly easy, but the smile is very hard. Especially trying to get a little curve in it. Mr. White's time is, as always, incredible.

Tom, please take me out of the running for the prize. I think my target being in the original post puts the other participants at a disadvantage. I hope others will try this and take advantage of PF's holiday cheer. Best of luck shooters!

Now for some inspiration...

I don't know, that just seems like good tactics to me. Like starting to run as you begin to say 'Race you to the car!' Your post got a vote from me. ;)

You know who that should inspire - chronic blinkers. Mel Gibson does some pretty amazing shooting in that scene, considering he blinks each time he shoots.

I've bought yellow safety glasses and have begun growing my hair into a sweet mullet. I already own a Beretta so skin tight jeans and cowboy boots are my next purchases.

I keep planning to go down to the basement with the air pistol.
The current problem is finding said air pistol which is not where I remembered putting it.
The pellets are right where they always are, of course.

I'm not going to be able to get to the range today...again--yesterday was a no-go either. Now where's a sad Panda gif for PF?

So...in the interest of giving, I'm going to give you an embarrassing video I made in Sept of 2011. I was using youtube to track my progress and I thought I was quite clever at keeping myself moving forward, so enjoy the laughs at my expense :o

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qxSQ6tBEqY

PS: I have no idea how to get back into that account and destroy/delete the videos. (read: too lazy to figure it out, b/c I forgot about this account until I couldn't get back to the range today.)

ETA: obviously I don't think this counts as an entry, but I wanted to participate and this was the best I could do.

This is very much appreciated Tom, thank you.

Found out about this thread late and was curious to find out what trick shooting shapes would be like. Unfortunately I forgot to time it.

10 rds at 5 yards

The eyes were supposed to be one shot each and the mouth extra toothy but my first shot on the right eye was pretty droopy so I had to perk it up with a couple more. Then the other eye needed some extra love to compensate.
