From a target perspective,
I have notice majority of European PPC shooters using the Magtech brand in South Africa as they are accurate, cheap and quite readily available OTC. All top shooters getting >95% of total match scores (1500 points and another event at 600 points).
Also to note, approx. 1/3rd of the match is spent at 50meters, 1/3rd spent at 25meters and the remaining at closer distances. So accuracy is there, however, they are using purpose built target firearms (STI's, Sig X5s, CZ Viper's) but I have seen one German bloke shoot a really tight group out of a factory sub-compact Glock at 20meters.
I cannot comment from a self defense perspective, personally, I carry and will carry on carrying Speer GD.

From the pics this load appears to have a Gold Dot-ish type bullet, crimped and waterproofed primers, with the Mag Tech ballistics page showing muzzle velocity at 1165fps. If the bullets are of similar design, or performance, then this ammo would appear to mimic the standard pressure Speer 124gr Gold Dot loading.

That link was the reason for me asking. ;)
Besides might be a good round for practice if poa/poi is similar to carry rounds.

I fired one into water. Expansion wasn't huge, but my shot placement wasn't great. Bullet looked like a cross between a Gold Dot and a T Series with less pronounced talons. The stuff shoots great. The 147gr version is awesome too.
I am just finishing up 1 K of mag tech 115 grain FMJ training Ammo. It's proven accurate and reliable.

I've shot a couple of thousand of that ammo, a friend uses the 124gr for training for his PD, and I started trying out the 115gr MagTech on Pat Rogers' recommendation. When I was in his carbine class in Boone Co. a couple of years ago during the last great ammo drought Pay had an inside to a MT distributor. He told me his students had brined over 60,000 rounds of the M193 type 5.56 during carbine classes, and about that much of the 115gr 9mm over the course of that year. He reported zero issues or stoppages that were ammo induced.
In my observation MagTech makes good ammo.

I picked up a few boxes of the bonded 147 grain JHP from SG Ammo. The price was right, and inexpensive enough to be stash worthy.
