Nutnfancy gets on my nerves after, like, a second or two.

If I want to watch gun-related Youtube videos that are just casual entertainment it's Hickok45 just because I think he's a cool guy and shows a lot of variety.

I dig the tmacs videos.

I avoid the egotistical blowhards who go out of their way to pose as switched-on military types or firearms experts, complete with dramatic video effects and music, all the while displaying poor technique such as slapping the trigger. I can't stand contributing to their click/view rates.

While Hickok45 is a bit long-winded at times, I enjoy his videos because he is smart, funny, well-versed and, perhaps most endearing, just a regular (sometimes self-deprecating) guy who happens to enjoy talking about firearms & shooting. And he's a pretty darn good shooter, too.

Forgotten Weapons.

I like Ian.

Especially his videos on some of the very early automatics. One of my favorites is the 1908 Schwarzlose 'blow forward' design. I find that stuff very cool:

Sootch00 had 2 NDs in a year and exhibits poor gun handling (which probably explains his NDs).

Nutnfancy is too in love with himself and gear, and also exhibits poor weaponshandling.

The Yankee Marshall doesn't actually talk about shooting.

Darkwood Personal Defense runs many DoTW type tests and is mostly centered on defensive and competitive shooting skills.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgD93xd1KaokQWJ96woH-AAMost of the content on youtube leaves me feeling that I wasted my time all the way up to the point that I stop watching the video. There are some guys that have some cool and interesting video's that I come across for sure but I don't have "favorites" in that there are channels that I would "subscribe to" and "follow" on a regular basis. Having said that I don't watch any of those 3 you mention especially anything from the last 2 on this list.

I hate to say it.

I watch it for entertainment most days. I hate to say that, but I've realized you'd spend your time much better going to a forum with qualified and vetted perspectives if you have a specific task. If you use YouTube interchangeably with television then I think the quality of content is reduced.

I like Twang and Bang, Military Arms Channel, Travis Haley, Jerry Miculek, Kyle Lamb, and a few others.

Surf's channel was amazing because of the sheer high volume of quality content. I understanding why he had to abandon the practice, but you certainly did phenomenal work. I hate to say this but my sentiments reflect Surf's; often times you're not going to gather a ton of information. You may get a nugget of wisdom here or there.

I enjoy nutnfancy's videos sometimes (I know he's hated); it depends on my moods. I also just let opinions on certain items (AR-15's, etc.) go in one ear and out the other. I feel like for knives and maybe camping stuff. I'd consider his opinion more heavily for those items. When I was in college for my Associate's I watched a lot of youtube, and after that I stopped pretty much entirely. Now that I'm married, working, and stuck at home doing homework (finishing my Bachelor's); I waste a lot of 10-20 minute breaks watching gun-culture related youtube videos.

Ballistic Radio would probably be a great resource to listen to interviews, etc. if you're digging for information or developing skill. I'd say pick up a few books by stoeger, get snap caps, a shot timer, a SIRT, and some dry firing software where you can designate fields or practice drills, etc.

It just depends on what you're looking to get from it.

God Bless,

Brandon

Reviews, YouTube gurus calling each other out, tactical videos...don't like any of them.

Because my firearms interests are all over the map, I like forgottenweapons and capandball.

Glad you guys enjoyed the youtube channel. I do still get a lot of talk and questions about the channel. I was one of the early youtube channels and most of the big ones now started and grew up after that time frame. I had a certain style and content and refused to do certain things just to get views. Many of the notable "youtubers" were subscribers and I did not like to see my content mirrored shortly after I released something, which was not uncommon. Not like I had some type of patent on the content, but the content was often misunderstood and relayed incorrectly and that is what bothered me. I also did not monetize so no adds, so views or hits were not a priority.

I really started the channel as a private thing to share shooting stuff with a brother and his shooting group who live far from me. His shooting group / network grew beyond the private viewer limit and there was no "unlisted" options at that time, so I made certain stuff "public" really just for them. I was new to youtube and it was not as commonplace than as it is now so I didn't expect it to grow like it did. It kind of took on a life of its own. At a certain point it was big enough that I kind of felt obligated to create videos for those long time viewers that really supported and enjoyed the channel. It was time consuming and did cost me out of pocket, but a big benefit was that video was / has always been one of my key tools for my own training and instruction to others.

Many wanted to associate themselves, shoutouts, get togethers, interviews for their channel etc. Many also wanted to be the first to interview me for their channel and a bonus was the desire to be the first to show my face if I ever decided to go that route. It was all more than a bit strange. I know it sounds odd since I had a youtube channel, but I did not wish to have any recognition or to be known as a "youtube personality". The whole thing just seemed a bit weird, still does, especially since I was not driving any business or deriving any income from it. I never mentioned youtube in person unless if someone else brought up the topic and strangely enough people still recognized me. Due to my job, being recognized has always been a potentially bad thing so it was always an uneasy feeling. I did not want to be involved / associated with any of the other channels out there and I stuck to doing my own thing.

I may or may not have video's in the future. In the future I could potentially see video in support of a business plan, but in reality I don't need to go that route especially if I stick mostly with closed or restricted type of courses. Thanks again guys to those who supported the channel, it really was for those who had the passion and desire for what we all enjoy doing!

In other words Surf, put a brown bag over your head and bring back your channel. ;) I kid! I kid! I understand where you are coming from.

I enjoy the videos that you have posted here and have taken some of the shooting lessons learned and incorporated them into my own live fire practice. Here is to hoping you decide to bring it back. While youtube celebrity status isn't needed, the content certainly is. It's another reason I stay here...the vetted content.

Nutnfancy gets on my nerves after, like, a second or two.

Back when I was shooting IDPA on a semi-regular basis, one of the guys in the local club would rave about that jackwagon, so I checked out some of his stuff to see what the fuss was about.

Not only did I find him annoying, I picked up quickly on the fact that he would talk repeatedly about his military expertise, and implied his military background made him an expert in all the small arms tactics he would prattle on and on about. Turns out he was a pilot flying tankers in the Air Force. Having been a navigator in the Air Force I can tell you the USAF taught him next to nothing about small arms, other than how to hit the paper (not the actual silhouette target the whole 24"x36" piece of paper) with a Beretta M9 more often than not at 7, 15, and 25 yards, and has no military training or experience in what he's posting about.

He's an idiot, and it shows.
