Damn this is a good movie.
I'm not usually a sub-title movie kind of guy, but this one sucked me in and I watched it straight through with no pauses.
It's got a "Man on Fire" vibe to it, but with more substance.
The 2 hours flew by.

The sequel is better, and has direct relevance to US urban politics.

Another movie with the same theme (but set halfway around the world) is "'71".
It's about the Troubles in Northern Ireland in... you guessed it 1971.

Fairly entertaining movie, but it felt like it was the opening episode to a series.

I'll have to check out the sequel.

Thanks for posting.

If you want to see these guys in action, check out the documentary "Bus 174".

It's a bus hostage situation that played out on live TV.

I've heard from a guy I talk to down there, and heard similar stories from Greg Ellifritz, that many Rio cops carry ball ammo in their guns, because they only get issued JHPs initially, or once a year. They get into so much crap that they shoot up their issued ammo rather quickly. They then have to buy their own ammo, and since JHP is expensive, they go with ball ammo.

Chris Rock's Bullet Control Philosophy in action.

I liked both. The sequel was really good, though.

Excellent movies.
Both of them righteously pissed me off in multiple ways.
You know it's a good movie when you see the plot twists coming and they still take you by surprise.
Some spooky ass parallels to current US politics and media manipulation as well.

It's "Man on Fire" meets "Training Day" meets " '71" with a little "The Godfather" thrown in along with great visuals and pretty damn good gun handling. Almost Michael Mann attention to detail.

Good movies. The actor who plays the main character, Wagner Moura, pops up in other stuff. He was in Elysium and the Netflix series Narcos as Pablo Escobar which was decent
